I am not becoming certifiably certifiable, the reason you see a string of certified refurbished items is because I am going through the list of 150+ certified refurbished headphones at Amazon, and among them is the Sony XB 600 Extra Bass folding headphones going for $40 by DealFisher thru Amazon, so they are Prime eligible.
They include the original accessories and a 90-day warranty. “Certified Refurbished” appears to be an Amazon term for products that fit certain requirements, a highlighted screenshot of that segment below.
As you can see, these can be manufacturer refurbisher or other-party refurbished, as long as they fulfill the above requirements.

Sennheiser HD650 drops to $339, Gift Card Offer Goes Away
As of the time of writing, only two of the Sennheiser + Amazon Gift Card bundles remain (HD280 and HD380). The offers for the HD600 and the HD650 are no longer available (the listing is there but there is no price and no order option). The silver lining of this is that the price of the HD 650 headphones without the card has dropped to $339 with free shipping from Amazon actual.
If you don’t need it right away, it may be a good idea to wait and see what offers the holiday shopping season will bring. In the meantime, there are about five hundred forum threads discussing HD 600 vs HD 650 to keep you busy 🙂

Manufacturer Refurbished Sony MDR-1A drops to $150
The last time I posted about the manufacturer refurbished Sony MDR-1A in late August it was going for $180, but as of the time of writing, the price dropped to $150 with free shipping by Secondipity through Amazon Warehouse Deals. It ships directly from Secondipity, so it is not Prime-eligible.
The competing price to the manufacturer-refurbished are new-condition but international versions, imported to the USA without the blessings of Sony USA, so they don’t get their warranty. Their prices too have dropped a bit since, settling around $187 depending on the seller. Check the detailed listings for the either the silver MDR-1A or the black MDR-1A to see all price options.
The new condition price from authorized Sony USA dealers is $300.
Beyerdynamic Custom Street On-Ears drop to $83

These were one of the Prime Day offers when they had then dropped to $100. The white color scheme remains at $99. Used HifiMan HE-400S for $228
The Hifiman HE-400S are currently settled on $228 as a used price at Amazon Warehouse Deals (AWD) among recognizable sellers. Market Changing Moment: Apple drops Headphone Jack, launches proprietary (???) Wireless Audio
The September 7 Apple announcement is an important moment in the headphone market. As the rumors suggested, they dropped the headphone port on the new iPhone 7* models in favor of the Lightning port connection, and introduced a new proprietary wireless non-Bluetooth (???) technology for the upcoming $159 AirPods. They also launched new “Beats 3” with Lightning and a new “budget” Beats X line. Now the accessories do not necessarily have to be used all together. For example, none of the items included can use a microSD card, but you can use it on your phone, tablet, laptop, etc. The Fiio E12 and the Case can be used with the DT 1990 or any other headphones you have, whichever are the best match for your needs and preferences.
The Fiio E12 goes for around $100 on its own, and the case goes for around $20. You can get a 32GB microSD for around $10 these days, so that’s $130 in freebies while paying the same price.
This bundle gets free 2-day shipping even though it ships directly from Beach Camera. It’s a relatively recent development where Amazon partners with some of the marketplace sellers to encourage them to offer Prime-shipping on select items that ship directly from the seller.
