Wedn: Jabra Rox for $50, Coach for $70

Among the Wednesday Best Buy daily deals there are two Jabra bluetooth earbuds. The Rox model goes for $50 while the Sport Coach goes for $70. They get free 2-day shipping or free store pickup if you prefer.

PS: in recent weeks Best Buy switched to a new benefit where Rewards members (at the entry-level tier, no minimum annual spent prerequisite) get free 2-day shipping on a number of items going for $35+ (but not everything; and only items shipped by Best Buy, not through the various other sellers there).

Jaybird X2 Bluetooth Earbuds for $70 (six colors)

The Big Yellow (aka Best Buy) is celebrating fifty years of not being Circuit City (meow!), and one of their anniversary sale items are the Jaybird X2 Bluetooth Earbuds offered in new condition for $70 with free shipping. Six different color options are available. Free shipping or store pickup (where available).

Sony XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooths for $98

At the intersection of bassheads and techies, one of the headphones one may find are the closed-back Sony XB950BT over-ears. The “Extra Bass” in their name makes certain classical music fans don’t buy them accidentally 😉 They have Bluetooth with NFC but no ANC. NFC is handy if you are planning to frequently switch between different bluetooth sources (eg two phones) and don’t want to deal with the soap opera of different bluetooth devices “fighting” for an active connection.

All that brings us to these headphones being on sale for $98 with free shipping, in your choice of black, red or blue, at authorized dealers Abt Electronics and BuyDig on eBay (limit 5; over 400 units sold).

These are popular, if customer reviews and questions are an indicator, they have over 1000 of the former and over 600 answered of the latter at amazon.com with an average of 4.3 out of 5 and a decent “review intensity ratio”. That’s the 5-stars vs the 1-stars, it’s about a 10:1 (69% of reviews versus 7% of reviews), which is a good sign.

Refurbished Beats Solo 2 Bluetooth On-Ears for $120

The red color scheme of the Beats Solo 2 Bluetooth on-ear headphones are currently on sale in refurbished condition for $120 with free shipping at A4C.com (All4Cellular). The black color scheme goes for $130. Everything on their website gets free shipping, even the $5 items.

NOTE: refurbished items on their website come with a 90-day replacement warranty from the seller A4C, not the manufacturer. It covers replacements of defective products using their RMA process.

Open-Box Definitive Technology Symphony 1 for $245

They ship directly from HiDef (actual real-world A/V store with showroom in Pennsylvania). If you prefer a Prime-delivery, they go for $260 by Electronic Expo.

These are bluetooth with ANC and built-in battery. They average 4.1 out of 5 based on 46 customer reviews.

Photive PH-BTE70 Bluetooth Exercise Earbuds for $28

The last time I price-checked these were going for $40, but right now they are going for the very specific price of $27.90, they are decidedly on the utilitarian front, exercise bluetooth earbuds with hooks to stay on your ears, the Photive PH-BTE70, going for that price by a marketplace seller with the order fulfilled by Amazon. They average 3.7 out of 5 based on 1700+ customer reviews.

Parrot Zik 2.0 for $200 in blue or orange

On the technobabble segment of the headphone market, the second generation of the Parrot Zik (aka Zik 2.0) are on sale for $200 in new condition in the blue and orange color schemes by a marketplace seller with the orders fulfilled by Amazon, so they are Prime-eligible. These have many techobabble buzzwords, bluetooth, touch controls, ANC, custom app, etc.

They average 3.6 out of 5 based on 330+ customer reviews, and when you look at the distribution chart of their ratings, they have quite a few negatives, the 5-star to 1-star ratio is not even 2:1. So be sure to read up on reviews and trade-offs and features and such.

Mpow Bluetooth Receiver drops to $12

If you need to bluetoothize (verb) your headphones or anything else that can play music from a 3.5mm input, the well-reviewed (4.3 out of 5 with 2660+ reviews and 300+ questions answered) Mpow Bluetooth Receiver is now down to $12 in new condition at amazon.com. Manufacturers rarely describe this clearly, but you can read the reviews and Q&A for more details.

Receiver is the key word here, it “receives” music from a bluetooth source (eg smartphone or tablet). The opposite is a Transmitter, which “transmits” music (eg from a 3.5mm playback source) to a bluetooth receiver (eg this device or bluetooth headphones or bluetooth-enabled speakers).

Using both a bluetooth receiver and a transmitter, you can take any two analog devices, eg your tape cassette player and your wired headphones and turn them into a bluetooth set. However, keep in mind that there is audio degradation with bluetooth, and more so when you combine them, so this may be best for audiobooks or spoken word or non-musical audio or background music while doing household chores that wouldn’t let you critically enjoy music anyway.
