Free Beats Solo 2 Bluetooth On-Ears with select Mac purchases
Here’s one tangible outcome of the Beats purchase by Apple, free Beats! As part of their Back to School promotions (I guess it’s never too early to start those), Apple is offering a free pair of Beats Solo 2 Bluetooth On-Ears with the purchase of select Macs (desktops or laptops). Meanwhile select iPads get a free pair of Powerbeats 2 bluetooth earphones.
This happens in the shopping cart when you add both the eligible device and the eligible headphones. The shopping cart deducts the price of the headphone making it free. If you get an eligible iPad, you can instead get the Solo 2 bluetooth on-ears but you have to pay an extra $100 out of your own pocket (instead of getting the Powerbeats earphones for FREE). Details at the promotional Apple page.

Sony MDR-S70AP Foldable On-Ears for $20
The Sony MDR-S70AP foldable on-ears, in the white-brown color scheme, are currently going for $20 by a marketplace seller with the order fulfilled by Amazon so they are Prime eligible. Not a lot of information is available on these. They might be a Japan-only product that found its way to an Amazon warehouse.
PS: the earpads remind me of the “telephone receiver” style, eg in Shure SRH 144/145.
Onkyo IE-FC300 In-Ears for $30 w/free S&H
In a parallel promotion to the On-Ears, the official Onkyo Amazon store is offering the new condition IE-FC300 In-Ears for $30 with free shipping in the violet, white or red color schemes. Meanwhile the IE-HF300 goes for $50 in the black/silver.
In-Stock Now: Onkyo Iron Maiden Official On-Ears for $299
While the previous Onkyo post was on the bang-for-the-buck side of things, this one is at the other end of the spectrum, it is the fandom premium! For fans of Iron Maiden, the official licensed Iron Maiden ED-PH0N3S On-Ears are back in-stock and ready to ship for the fandom-premium price of $299 with free shipping by Onkyo through Amazon.
The listing says this was co-developed with Steve Harris, with 200+ development days, and 20+ Onkyo engineers and things like that.
Onkyo FC300 On-Ears for $40 w/ free S&H [updated]

Shipping is free, from Onkyo, so it’s not eligible for Prime. Check the other Audio items at their Amazon Storefront for potential deals.

On the budget side of bluetooth on-ears with a 3.5mm audio input, the new condition Tenba Remxd in either black or white are on sale for $21 by the maker, with the order fulfilled by Amazon, so it has the usual free shipping terms. Open-box Westone UM Pro30 In-Ears for $300
The Westone UM Pro30 in-ears go for $400 at authorized dealers, but if you are comfortable with open-box, you can get them for $300 in “Used – Like New” Open-box condition from authorized dealer OneCall through Amazon Warehouse Deals and the OneCall eBay store (two units available).
Beyerdynamic A20 Headphone Amplifier for $450 [updated]
The new condition Beyerdynamic A20 Headphone Amplifier is currently on sale for $450 with free shipping and a limit of five units per customer at Amazon by Amazon actual and a few marketplace sellers. It looks like it could be a computer-generated price-match. The amp averages 4.8 out of 5 based on 14 customer reviews and has 13 questions peer-answered.
PS: today’s posts are a mix of used and new condition items. I try to mention “new condition” in the blog-post to make sure it’s not confusing. Used, Open Box and Refurbished items mention that in both the post and the post title. This is a side-effect of doing online shopping immersions. You jump from one thing to another, and if there are discounts and sales, all kinds of random things surface 🙂
UPDATE: As Allan pointed out in the comments, Amazon’s regular price is $456. This may be an error on the Amazon website or may be the amp’s price went up lifting all other prices? As of 8pm ET, it goes for $450 by Amazon actual and some marketplace sellers there, $500 at some authorized dealers (Sonix, Focus, Zorro, Adorama) and $600 at others (OneCall, Beyerdynamic USA own store).
Klipsch IMAGE S4 II In-Ears for $50 w/free S&H
If you are looking to get the previous generation Klipsch in-ears in new condition from an authorized dealer, the Klipsch IMAGE S4 II In-Ears are offered for $50 with free shipping with a limit of five units per customer by BuyDig’s eBay store. This is eBay’s so-called Mystery Deal of the Day.
Used Definitive Technology Symphony 1 for $260
Another area of contention among today’s “digital headphones” is the combination of Bluetooth and ANC, and one of those, the Definitive Technology Symphony 1 is available for $260 in “Used – Like New” condition by a couple of recognizable sellers through Amazon Warehouse Deals. One of the two, OneCall, is also offering the same item through their eBay store. These headphones average 4.1 out of 5 based on 43 customer reviews at Amazon.
Used Beyerdynamic DT 1770 for $417+ [Open Box for $460+]
The Beyerdynamic PRO 1770 closed-back Studio headphones currently go for $600 in new condition at authorized dealers (be VERY VERY VERY careful when you see iffy listings offering them for $300), but if you want to save some, you can get them in used condition starting at “Used – Good” for $417 and “Used – Very Good” for $444~ at Amazon Warehouse Deals. There are many listings of “Very Good” so there’s a reasonable chance of supply putting pressure on future prices.
Further down the page you can also find “Used – Like New” open-box options by authorized dealers (Electronics Expo, OneCall) starting at $460. The two listings from OneCall are also available through their eBay store.
[DEAD] Tuesday’s Offers: LyxPro, Sades, PopClik, Josi Minea, Etc
This round of offers expired…
Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Over-Ears (Ivory) for $236 Apple or $259 Android
If you are interested in the second generation of the closed-back over-ear Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 headphones, and you like (or do not object) to the Ivory color-scheme, it is currently on sale for $236 in the Apple (iOS) version and $259 in the Galaxy (Android) version, with a limit of five each per customer at Amazon by Amazon actual.
When they say iOS/Android, they mean the cables. The headphones are the same, the type of cable determines what functions work with each OS type (eg Volume, Play, etc). You can buy cables separate or use cables from other devices. While iOS is certain to work with Apple’s own iOS devices, there’s still some YMMV on the Android front since many manufacturers are doing many things their own way 🙂
SMSL Ivy Micro-USB DAC/Amp for Android for $23 [MD]

[DEAD] Used Grado SR60e On-Ears for $67
This sold out at this price… The new condition price of the Grado SR60e open-back on-ears is $79 at authorized dealers, but if you are comfortable with used, you can get them in “Used – Like New” condition (damaged original packaging) for $67~ with free shipping by Amazon Warehouse Deals actual. Fiio X3 II (2nd Generation) DAP for $170
The standard new condition price at authorized dealers of the second generation Fiio X3 digital audio player is $200 but currently it’s on sale for $170 with free shipping in three different colors at B&H Photo.
Other Fiio DAPs are on sale as well, the newly released Fiio M3, in four different colors, for $46 with free shipping.
PS: for classification purposes on this website, if something can play music, I filed it under DAPs, even if it can be used as DAC/amp for other music sources. This helps declutter the categories, which is why I have AMPs and DACs as one category, to prevent OCD levels of sub-categorization 🙂
Fiio K1 portable amp/DAC for $33 w/free S&H
