Star Wars Closed-Back On-Ears for $40 (either generation; SMS Audio)

UPDATE 7/13/16: it looks like only the Tie Fighter remains at $40 as of this time, the rest are higher…

ORIGINAL: While I continue to update the Warehouse Deals mega-post, I also run into new condition discounts as I go through various headphones. If you are a Star Wars fans both the first generation and the second generation of the officially licensed closed-back on-ears by SMS Audio have now dropped to $40, in new condition, and Prime eligible. Everyone can buy them, they are not a Prime-only promotion. Keep in mind these are based on 50 Cent’s on-ears, they have a very closed sound with the usual bass emphasis. So probably not the best way to enjoy John Williams 🙂 They come with a variety of Star Wars related extras, so perhaps they are more of a Star Wars accessory than a headphone 🙂

Manufacturer Refurbished Sony MDR-Z7 for $320 [4 left; open to all; no coupon]

With many and more audiophiles scouring Amazon Warehouse Deals for good used deals, the manufacturer refurbished Sony MDR-Z7 headphones is also getting “rediscovered” as people are looking for deals. Amazon’s used price is $387 after coupon, but it is handily “defeated” by the Secondipity manufacturer-refurbished option for $320 with free shipping. It ships from Secondipity so it’s not eligible for Prime benefits. There are now only four units left (as of the time of writing).

On the plus side, anyone can buy it, you don’t have to be a Prime member. The AWD coupon does not work on this one.

If you are an Amazon Prime member, coupon code WDEARLY or WDEARLY20 (I forgot which one works) gets you 20% off Used purchases at Amazon Warehouse Deals. From the tests I made by putting things in the shopping cart, the coupon only works for items sold by Amazon Warehouse Deals (AWD) actual, not for items sold by marketplace sellers through AWD. Search for your headphones of interest there, or browse by category.

I’ll post additional posts if I find any crazy things that got discounted while multi-tasking other things. You can also check the previous Used posts here to see if any of them would be even more tempting with the coupon.

UPDATE: the coupon works for multiple items in your shopping cart, it’s not one item per customer!

PS: The coupon expires by Prime Day… I don’t know when the coupon expires…

Upping the ante since the last time we mentioned this about a month ago, Adorama now offers a $200 Adorama gift certificate (instead of a $150) when you purchase their Sennheiser HD650 bundle for $500. Android fans get the black/chrome version for $71, but the black/red Android version is going for $80.
