Strategically this is an interesting cat and mouse situation if you want to optimize for lowest price possible. Amazon’s pricing computers seem to have algorithms that adjust prices based on quantity available, date/time, interest in a product, and who knows what other signals they use. If something drops in price once, it may drop again, but I cannot predict what will happen 🙂
The Sony MDR-Z7 over-ear closed-back headphones are currently available in manufacturer refurbished condition for $320 $350 with free shipping by Secondipity thru Amazon Warehouse Deals. It is closed back over-ear, and comes with a transmitter-base and a headphone. It is powered by two AAA batteries, so if you have your own kit of chargers and rechargeables, you don’t have to worry about running out of juice in the middle of a game or movie. Just change the batteries (as long as you have pre-charged ones ready to go).

TIP: an easy way to remember their closed/open status is that the bigger the number gets, the more open they are. The 770 are closed, the 880 are semi, and the 990 are open.

Woot is running a refurbished Beats sale good until 5/24/16 at 12:01am central time. Each headphone is refurbished and comes with a 90 day warranty from Woot and has a limit of three units per customer. The three models are (in price order):

Note that all three of them are powered headphones. The Executive is an older generation and takes AAA batteries, which is plus or minus depending on your battery predisposition. The other two have built-in rechargeable batteries.
