It’s all about Sony during Friday 5/22/20, as the headliner of the Best Buy daily deals are Sony audio products:

+ Sony WH-CH700N ANC + bluetooth closed over-ears for $100
+ as fate would have it, we have a text and pictures unboxing of it from two years ago

+ Sony SP-600N necklace-style bluetooth/ANC earphones for $70

+ Sony SRS-XB-22 portable bluetooth speaker for $70
+ XB of course being eXtra BASS; perfect for audiophile jazz listeners 😉

+ Sony SRS-XB-501G wireless speaker with Google Assistant for $150

+ also 7″ Sony Android Auto media thing and Sony Audio system and in-dash digital media receiver and Sony 1155W 2-channel Dolby Atmos 4K A/V hometheater; so much SONY today, too many to list here one by one!

Elsewhere, at Amazon Germany, the Huawei P40 smartphones [no GOOGLE PLAY!!!!] are bundled with the Huaweii truly-wireless earphones and a Huaweii smartwatch in great prices IF you don’t care for Google Play and Google Play Services. That’s a HUGE IF. I don’t think I would want to be chasing hacks to run Google Play apps in 2020. This may have been a fun thing to do in 2010, but these days, I just want things that work 🙂

You can feed your DAPs and PADs (phones as DAPs) at the NewEGG.com daily deals with these two microSD cards:
+ 400GB Sandisk ULTRA for $57
+ 128GB Team for $16
+ also: Philips SHB-5950-WT neckband-style earphones for $17 but reviewers NOT happy with it ~ averages 3 out of 5 based on 21 ratings as of the time of writing

If you are looking for an affordable headphone stand, the B&H daily deals [expire Saturday at 11:59pm ET] include their house-brand AURAY HPDS-B headphone stand for $12. It averages almost 5 out of 5 based on 35 customer reviews… While there, you will also find a couple of options for CAD (the brand name, not the Computer-Aided Design) USB microphones ranging from $50 to $80…

If any of your hard core audiophile/phool friends catch you wearing these, you can always tell them you are using them for comparison and they are obviously your kids or your nephews or your coworkers or your parents 😉 And until Friday 5/8/20 at 11:59pm central (or earlier if sold out) you can get “these” for $150 as the Woot Electronics deal du jour.

“These” of course refers to the new condition closed-back on-ear Beats Solo 3 bluetooth headphones with the W1 and a 1-year manufacturer warranty. They are available in close to a dozen different color schemes…

UPDATE: but that’s not all for Friday, there’s also a couple of truly-actually-wireless at Best Buy daily deals as follows:

+ JLab Jbuds Air truly wireless for $40
+ Jabra Elite 65t truly wireless for $95

Monday: Philips SE-CL5BT ClipWear bluetooth earphones for $14.50 w/FS

Good until Monday 5/4/20 at 11:59pm pacific time (or earlier if sold out) is a new kind of exercise bluetooth earphone, it has a built-in clip, which also allows for a larger battery (estimated power of eight hours) it is the Philips SE-CL5BT Clipwear with IPX4 rating going for $14.49 with free US shipping, sold and shipped by NewEgg actual

PS: the sale price begins at 3am ET on 5/4/20. No promo code needed. NewEgg teases their next-day daily-deals a couple of hours before they go live, that’s why I’m posting it before it went live 🙂

PS: this is an actual clip that clips on to clothes and such. Not to be confused with the KOSS Clip-ONs. Speaking of which, after many years, the left side of my Clip-ONs no longer works 🙁 Time to buy a couple of the Massdrop versions ~ when they come back in-stock that is…

UPDATE: speaking of daily deals, Woot is offering the new condition Jabra Evolve 75 MS bluetooth on-ears for $140 with free shipping for Prime members (or $6 flat). It includes a charging stand and a 90-day Woot warranty…

M&O MOOH-BE00BT Closed Bluetooths for $45 w/FS [MD]

The normalization of bluetooth continues with CANJAM hype 🙂 These goofily named bluetooth over/on-ear [not sure which one it is] are available at the Massdrop website for $45 with free US shipping with a mid-May shipping estimate. There’s no mention of warranty in the listing…

“This” refers to the closed-back M&O MOOH-BE00BT, which come with a case and the usual (charging cable, audio cable, etc). These play with 3.5mm and over Bluetooth 4.0 with apt-X support.

They also come with a flat headphone stand. It is an unusual stand, it holds them folded, with one earcup resting on the flat stand. This is not a hanging stand [see pictures over there, easier than me trying to describe it here]. You can select in the shopping cart whether you want a clear or black stand.

Depending on the shape of the earcups of your other headphones, if/how they fold, and how their weight is balanced, they may or may not fit on these [unlike conventional standing stands that can fit most headphones].

Sunday: Jabra Elite 65t truly wireless for $100

Good for Saturday April 19 in 2020, you can get the new condition Jabra Elite 65t truly wireless earphones for $100 in the titanium color scheme at the Best Buy website where it is one of their deals of the day…

Monday: Jaybird Tarah bluetooth earphones for $45 [also: Tascam, Anker]

Monday April 13 in 2020 comes in with a bluetooth earphone daily deal at the Best Buy website, it is the new condition Jaybird Tarah offered for $45 in the black-metallic-flash color scheme. The other two color schemes remain at the regular price of $100.

This averages 4.3 out of 5 based on 400+ customer reviews over there, and it’s a fairly small/lightweight necklace-style bluetooth earphone, so it’s not a surprise it has a six hour battery life. These are after all exercise-intended, with that little hook-thing that hooks on the inside of your ear like those Bose StayHear things… [I’m sure there’s a proper name for these but I can’t recall it at this very moment]…

UPDATE: one of the Newegg daily deals is the new condition Anker Soundcore Life 2 ANC/Bluetooth Over-Ears going for $40 when you enter the limited time promo code 93XPH73 in their shopping cart…

UPDATE #2 good until Friday 4/13/20 at 8am ET, the Musician’s Friend deal of hte day is the new condition Tascam TH-300X closed-back over-ear headphones for $40. These look familiar, they appear to have common ancestry with models sold under some other brands as well (CAD?)…

Thursday: Insignia pod-style bluetooth earphones for $20

Two bluetooth earphones are on sale for Thursday 4/9/20 at the Best Buy deals of the day as follows:

+ Insignia (house brand) for $20; these are more pod-style, not in-ears, not earbuds
+ average 4.2 out of 5 based on nearly 500 customer reviews

+ Taotronics TT-BH069BB ANC for $30
+ average 3 out of 5 based on 21 customer reviews

+ also of audio interest, SiriusXM Onyx Plus Satellite Radio Receiver with Home Kit for $45, a couple of remote controls, and an ION Audio projector type of thing for $150.

Speaking of audio related, the Adorama daily deal (changes at 10am eastern every day) is the new condition H&A Professional USB Microphone For Podcasting and Studio Recording (with Stand, model HAUPM) going for $50 with free US shipping…

UPDATE: part of the NewEgg daily deals for this day is the new condition Philips UpBeat SHB-2505WT/00 truly wireless going for $38 with free US shipping, sold by NewEgg actual, with up to three pairs per customer at the sale price.

Sony WH-CH400 bluetooth on-ears for $30

If you are looking for simple name-brand bluetooth closed-back on-ears, select colors of the new condition Sony wH-CH400 headphones are on sale for $30 at B&H Photo, an authorized Sony dealer…

Or if you prefer to live more dangerously, you can get it for around $18 with free US shipping in various “other” conditions from various eBay sellers

It has 30mm drivers, supports bluetooth 4.2 with NFC, supports SBC and AAC only [well, it’s a budget thing after all], with micro-USB charging…

Focal Listen Chic bluetooth over-ears for $169

Do you like purple headphones? If so, you can get a pretty, pretty, pretty good deal on the new condition FOCAL Listen Chic bluetooth over-ears, they are on sale for $169 with free US shipping at B&H Photo… The other three colors go for $299…

This is not a daily deal, so I do not know when the price will change…

Optionally you can purchase the headphone together with an AURAY headphone stand with a 20% off discount on the price of the AURAY (not the headphone)…

They come with a 2-year warranty, a carrying case, detachable cable (for 3.5mm listening) and charging cable. The bluetooth is version 4.1 with apt-X support.

I must admit, the green and blue color schemes look nicer than the purple, but not $130 nicer for sure 🙂

PS: if you don’t want them purple Listen Chics, please feel free to send them to me. I will unbox and review them eventually 🙂

Sunday: Insignia Closed Over-Ear Bluetooths for $20 [also: Marshall, Crown Audio]

Good until Sunday 4/5/20 night, Best Buy offers as one of their deals du jour their new condition Insignia bluetooth over-ears for $20. If you miss the daily deal, it currently goes for $18 as open-box. Insignia is their house brand…

This is a closed-back over-ear bluetooth product with an average of 4.5 out of 5 based on 2000+ customer reviews over there. It also plays music via 3.5mm. Its full name is NS-CAHBTOE01 and comes with a 1-year warranty.

When you open the PDF “Quick Start” guide shown over there, you will learn that this is a bluetooth 4.1.

UPDATE: a couple of other audio products are also offered at the Best Buy daily deals today:

+ Marshall Kilburn II Portable Bluetooth Speaker for $150
+ Insignia Tabletop FM/HD Radio for $40

And at B&H Photo, also part of their Sunday deals du jour you can get for $170 after an automatically-applied in-cart coupon the new condition Crown Audio XLi 1500 Stereo Power Amplifier

UPDATE #2 for a limited time (does not an expiration time), Amazon is offering the digital download edition of “PreSonus Studio One 4 Artist Recording Software Suite” for $70…

Saturday: JBL Live truly wireless for $50

It’s the truly wireless party train at Best Buy, as one of their Saturday April 4 (2020) deals du jour is the new condition JBL Live truly wireless going for $50.

But that’s not all for Saturday ~ if you want to feed your DAPs or PADs or tablets and such, Newegg.com is offering the 256GB Samsung microSD memory card for $40, and you can buy up to three of them at the sale price. These are sold by Newegg actual, not iffy marketplace sellers 🙂

Shure’s $50 Bluetooth Upgrade Mail-In offer ends 4/30/20

If you don’t hate mail-in rebate with the passion of one million burning suns, and if you are into the Shure ecosystem, their Bluetooth cable upgrade offer expires on April 30 in 2020.

Now before I continue, I should point out that I do not know whether this is or will be impacted by the Corona delays, so keep that in mind.

Anyway, the offer is this: if you have an existing Shure in-ear with the Bluetooth 4.1 cable, AND you purchase a Shure in-ear with a bluetooth 5.0 cable, then you can submit a mail-in rebate (details on what to send and where at the aforelinked page) and after 8-10 weeks you will receive a $50 mail-in rebate.

This offer includes the previously mentioned Shure SE-215 SI Wireless which go for $79.

PS: if you have the Shure SE-112 which does not have a detachable cable, you’d have to send the whole thing. For the other older SE in-ears with a detachable cable, you only send the bluetooth cable, you keep the in-ears and everything else that came with it.

Shure SE-215 SI with Bluetooth 5.0 Cable and free water bottle (!!!) for $79

In the Fall of 2019, Shure (re)launched a new set of SE-series Sound Isolating earphones, and hearing (pun intended) the call for bluetooth earphones, they have launched the Wireless Noise-Isolating SE-215 in-ears in four different color schemes

These are currently going for $79 with free US shipping at B&H Photo which, for a limited time, includes a free gift, a Shure-branded water bottle (which you can also purchase separately for $10 each). Contrary to rumors heard in some forums, the water bottle is strictly for drinking water, and not for altering the sound signature of the bluetooth signal. Because when passing through water, treble spikes become more mellow 😉

Anyway, the important thing of these in-ears of bluetooth interest is that they come with a detachable bluetooth 5.0 cable with supports most the major CODECs (but not LDAC).

Accessories include eartips, a carrying case, clip, micro-USB cable and a 2-year warranty.

NOTE: that these “with Bluetooth 5.0 cable” models do not come with a wired cable. You have to use your own from previous compatible MMCX models or purchase one if you wish to use them both wired and wireless…

Harman Kardon Soho closed bluetooth on-ears for $60

For a limited time, the official Harman Audio store on NewEgg is offering the new condition closed-back wireless on-ear HK Solo headphones for $60 with free US shipping. No coupon code, no rebate, just add to cart and proceed to checkout during this limited time promotion…

UPDATE: part of the same sale, their sister company’s NewEgg Audio store is offering the new condition JBL E25BT bluetooth in-ears for $18 with free US shipping…

Wedn: Thorens TD-201 w/BI-Preamp, refurb Samsung Galaxy Buds, MEE BTR, KLIM, Apple Lighting to 3.5mm, Etc

April Fool’s Day in 2020 greets us with a few audio-related daily deals at various retailers as follows:

We start with the biggest item, it is the new condition Thorens TD 201 Manual Two-Speed Turntable with Built-In Switchable Phono Preamp offered for $300 with free US shipping in two color schemes at B&H Photo

At the Best Buy website they have plenty:

  • refurbished Samsung Galaxy Buds truly wireless for $60 (Geek Stink Breath Certified)
  • MEE Audio BTR bluetooth audio receiver for $25
  • Insignia bluetooth speaker for $25
  • and for music, 64GB PNY USB 2.0 flash drive for $9

At and Woot, they have a Tech Favorites sale with 17 items, a number of which are audio-related:

  • KLIM Fusion in-ears w/mic-remote for $13
  • ISOTunes exercise bluetooth earphones for $56
  • Guning truly wireless for $25
  • Monster bluetooth speaker for $25
  • Apple Lighting to 3.5mm headphone adapter for $6 with 90-day Woot warranty

All of the above are only good for April 1st in 2020, and in the time zone of each particular retailer ~ or earlier if any of the individual products sells out…

Monday: NuForce BE Sport3 for $15, Jaybird Run XT Sport TW for $50

Two retailers have bluetooth earphone daily deals for Monday 3/30/20 running until 11:59pm local time (local of the retailer, eg B&H Photo is East Coast, Best Buy is midwest/central, Amazon is pacifica)…

At B&H Photo, you can get the new condition Nu Force BE Sport3 bluetooth earphones for $15 in the gun-metal color-scheme OR if you want to stock up or give away, you can get a 4-pack for $40 (making it $10 per pair)…

At Best Buy, you can get the new condition Jaybird Run XT Sport truly wireless earphones for $50…

I don’t have the “XT Sport” but we have here a text and pictures unboxing of the Jaybird Run truly wireless, the only truly wireless I truly have 🙂

Pictured below is the packaging of the Jaybird Run, not the “Run XT Sport” that is on sale…

Sennheiser HD 4.40BT Bluetooth Over-Ears for $70

If you are looking to spend under $100 for a pair of closed over-ear bluetooth headphones but don’t want to get the many non-audio brand ANC/bluetooth combo options, then for $70 you can get the new condition Sennheiser HD 4.40BT by Amazon actual with a maximum of two pairs per customer at the sale price. They average 4.2 out of 5 based on 5500+ ratings.

NOTE however that this is a Bluetooth 4.0 headphone (might be a deal killer for those with new BT 5.0 smartphones and such), and supports apt-X but not apt-X HD.

Note also that the recently revealed Sennheiser bluetooth headphones in the 4-series cost a lot more and have not been greeted as liberators by the early reviewers.

I haven’t seen these but I had their “cousins”, the HD 4.20S wired over-ears and from the pictures it looks like they use similar pads. Those HD 4.20S pads are probably the #1 feature of the headphones…

Here’s the HD 4.20S pad, around 1 inch thick!

sennheiser_hd420_earpad_thickness

PS: just like the previously mentioned HD 599 sale, the HD 4.40BT and 4.20S came out at IFA 2016

Hifiman TWS-600 truly wireless down to $79

IF you prefer to try your luck with truly-wireless earphones from headphone companies instead of consumer electronics companies, the new condition Hifiman TWS-600 truly wireless (with bluetooth 5.0 and low latency support) are currently down to $79 at the Amazon website, sold by the Hifiman Amazon store and the Gramophone Amazon store, both fulfilled by Amazon so Prime members get their fast(er) free delivery.

They also promise a range of up to 150 meters in open unobstructed areas (eg open fields), up to 38.5 hours playing time (WITH the charging case). They are IPX-4 rated, and per the product description over there, they “required” 10-20 hours of burn in 🙂

They average 3.8 out of 5 based on 110+ customer reviews and have near half of that in peer-answered questions…

PS: my only experience so far with “truly wireless” are the Jaybird Run TW, so I can’t help much 🙂

Bose QuietComfort 35 II (Rose Gold) ANC/BT Over-Ears for $248

If you like rose-gold color-schemed headphones, you are in luck! Amazon is offering the new condition Rose-Gold limited edition Bose Quiet Comfort QC35 II closed-back over-ears with bluetooth and ANC for $248 with free US shipping and a limit of three pairs per customer at the sale price. This is a limited time offer, but not a lightning deal, so I do not know when the price changes…

With the Corona having many people locked in, ANC and closed-back over-ears may be in order for every household 🙂 Unlike in-ears, having a giant set of over-ear headphones on your head screams “DON’T YOU DARE BOTHER ME!” 🙂

This may indeed be on its way out of the market because it is marked as “Discontinued” at B&H Photo which previously had it on sale before it got discontinued…

NOTE: that this model does NOT use bluetooth 5.0, so if you need BT 5, you have to wait for a newer model. It also uses micro-USB charging; again, if you are living a “USB-C Lifestyle”, you have to wait for a newer model.. OR look at other manufacturers 🙂

PS: keep in mind though, that for Bluetooth 5, and other assorted protocols, both devices have to support it. Otherwise it will resort to the highest common denominator. A Bluetooth 5.0 headphone connecting with a Bluetooth 4.1 smartphone will not connect as Bluetooth 5, but as BT 4.1 or lower ~ depending on what both of them can support…

Woot Audio sale includes refurbished Jaybird bluetooth earphones (F2: $20, X2: $25)

Woot Plus is running an Audio sale until the end of March 2020, and among them they have two refurbished Jaybird bluetooth earphones. The Freedom 2 goes for $20, while the Jaybird X2 (with the earfins) goes for $25. They come with a 90-day Woot warranty. Up to ten of each per customer at the sale price…

The sale also includes various Beats and Cowin headphones, the Zoom H4n PRO recorder for $176, and other assorted audio items…

FREE NuForce Stride bluetooth earphones with Sennheiser HD6XX purchase for $195

For a limited time only (expiration date is not mention), you will automatically [no coupon needed, no additional action on your behalf] receive a FREE NuForce Stride bluetooth earphone with the purchase of the new condition open-back over-ear Sennheiser HD 6XX headphones for $195 with free US shipping and free US returns from the Massdrop website. This is an “in-stock drop” so it will ship in one business day after purchase, it won’t take weeks and weeks like the traditional Massdrop offerings…

To ensure the offer is running, use your browser’s in-page search feature (eg CTRL F in Chrome) looking for “NuForce” or “Stride”. You will see this promotion mentioned multiple times in the listing. Even though it does not appear “above the fold” (on the part of the page that fills up some screens, eg laptops).

The HD 6XX come with a 2-year manufacturer warranty since they are produced in co-operation with Hennheiser 🙂 The NuForce kit includes a hard case and six sets of eartips and a microUSB cable. No mention of warranty on the NuForce.

When you click the “BUY” button that takes you to the shopping cart, you will not see the NuForce mentioned there. The options you see in the shopping cart are for additional optional purchases (extra earpads, cables, DAC/amp, warranty) and a shipping upgrade option. Most of the optional items are offered with an additional combined purchase discount, eg the Drop+ THX AAA 789 linear amplifier is +$300 instead of $400 which sells on its own.

NOTE that this is the recently revised HD 6XX. Check the Massdrop and the interwebs for more details if you are not already familiar with the revisions…

Wedn: Audio T. ATH-CKR-55-BT bluetooth earphones for $20

Did bluetooth kill the wired star? You will find plenty of debates of this in various audio-related forums and websites, and you may also be able to sing that question to the tune of “Video Killed the Radio Star” but in the meantime, good until 3/4/20 at 11:59pm ET, B&H Photo is offering the new condition Audio Technica ATH-CKR-55-BT bluetooth earphones for $20 with free US shipping in your choice of black or blue color scheme…

This is a new arrival with no customer reviews as of the time of writing…

These support apt-X HD and the user manual is linked-to at the forelinked product page. No customer reviews of it over there…

Friday: Sony XB-650-BT closed bluetooths for $50

Good until Friday 2/7/20 at 11:59pm central time (or earlier if it somehow manages to sell out) you can get the new condition closed-back Sony “Extra Bass” XB-650-BT bluetooth headphones for $50 as one of the Woot daily deals with a 1-year Sony warranty in the black color scheme. Free shipping for Prime members or $6 flat for non-members. You have to connect your Prime account to your Woot account (a one-time action) to get the free shipping.

Monday (EU): Sennheiser HD 4.50 SE ANC/BT for $95 euro

Good for Monday February 3 in 2020, Amazon Germany is offering the new condition closed-back over-ear Sennheiser HD 4.50 Special Edition, a bluetooth and ANC headphone, for 95 euro with free shipping in Germany + Austria. Shipping is extra elsewhere. Limit up to three pairs per customer at the sale price…

There it averages 4.1 out of 5 based on nearly 10,000 customer reviews but note that all the variants of this model are grouped together in the listing (with or without ANC, SE and not SE, etc)…

Bose QuietComfort QC35 II for $279 [Rose Gold]

If rose-gold is your favorite color scheme, you are in luck! This very color scheme of the new condition Bose QuietComfort QC35 II closed-back over-ear ANC with bluetooth headphones is on sale for $279 with free US shipping at B&H Photo.

Bose used to be dominating in the ANC, but these days the battle has many claiming victory, including Sony’s surprise (?) hit with the 1000X series. All the major players are hitting the $300-ish market segment with all kinds of things. Your favorite search engine will yield countless comparisons and even more always-correct opinions 🙂

Wedn: NuForce BE Sport3 bluetooth earphones for $15 [or buy 4 for $50 total]

Good until 11:59pm eastern time on Wednesday January 29 in 2020, B&H Photo is offering, as one of their deals du jour, the new condition silver-gunmetal color scheme of the new condition NuForce BE Sport3 bluetooth earphones (of the exercise kind) for $15 with free US shipping… But wait, there’s more! You can buy a 4-pack of them for $50, making it $12.50 per pair. After all, we are less than 11 months away from Christmas, so it’s never too early to start stocking up on gifts 😉

This is a double-flange earphone and has an earhook, thus increasing its “exercise street cred” 🙂 It averages 4 out of 5 based on 25 customer reviews over there but it has just a 3.5 to 1 ratio of 5-stars vs 1-star, a statistical sign of potential trade-offs. Ideally one wants to see a ratio of 10:1 or better. That’s of course assuming other things equal, eg some products may have unusual or confusing features that the average consumer does not get or cannot be bothered, so they get the 1-star treatment when it’s more of a user error/misunderstanding. Or a product gets hyped in forums, magazines, social media or by celebrities, and its raining 5-stars even from people who haven’t opened the box yet 😉

GeekSquad certified refurbished Apple/Beats headphones (33 options)

Best Buy is having a sale on Geek Squad certified refurbished Apple and Beats headphones including in-ears, truly wireless and over and on ears. A total of 33 options are available.

When you expand the Specifications area on an individual eligible product, you will see that they come with a 90-day warranty, which factors in the price BUT as usual, be sure to price-check any items whose price-ranges you are not familiar with…
