JBL Omni Bluetooth Over-Ears for $85 [or $40 Used]

According to the Staples Weekly Ad for the week of April 26 until the close of business on May 2nd, they will have the over-ear JLab Omni bluetooth headphones on sale for $85 instead of their usual $100 price. Not all Staples store may carry it, so there is a YMMV component. Amazon’s own price as of blog-posting time is $100.

However, if you are comfortable with used headphones, you can get for $40~ in “Used – Good condition” or $42.64 in “Used – Very Good” condition by Amazon Warehouse Deals. There are many listings under “Very Good” which could put some further pressure on the used prices if they don’t get scooped up by what their pricing computer considers an acceptable pace.

Used Sony MDR-V6 for $43 (was $36.50)

The last few months, the good old Sony MDR-V6 were offered in the Amazon Gold Box in the $50s. I don’t know if or when that sale may return, but if you happen to need them right now and don’t mind used, they are going for $43 (was $36.50) [price updated 4/24/15] in “Used – Very Good” condition by Amazon Warehouse Deals. There are two listings there as of the time of writing, with the descriptions of the two being slightly different (one is in pristine packaging). These are a pretty solid pair of closed-back over-ear headphones for this price! And for hobbyists/enthusiasts, they are one of the influential models in history, so another reason to scoop one up. And for reviews/comparisoners (new word?), they can be a comparison benchmark of sorts.

PS: after spending some time checking prices at Amazon, I just posted this, along with six other potentially tempting Used offers found at Amazon Warehouse Deals. As usual with these, supplies can be more limited and prices more volatile, but that’s only a rule of thumb, you never really know for sure beforehand.

The “Good condition” goes for $240, the “Used – Very Good” for $255, and “Used – Like New” for $270. All these are by AWD actual, not marketplace sellers.

Even if $240 is not a good price for you now, with so many listings (there’s two pages of them!), it is possible (but not guaranteed by any means) that market-driven forces will drive the used prices further down.
