For example, none of the items included can use a microSD card, but you can use it on your phone, tablet, laptop, etc. The Fiio E12 and the Case can be used with the DT 1990 or any other headphones you have, whichever are the best match for your needs and preferences.
The Fiio E12 goes for around $100 on its own, and the case goes for around $20. You can get a 32GB microSD for around $10 these days, so that’s $130 in freebies while paying the same price.

The DAP market is getting more competitive as multiple generations of products are circulating in the market. If you are comfortable with a first generation product and manufacturer refurbished, the first generation Fiio X5 DAP is available in manufacturer refurbished condition for $129 with free shipping at Adorama.com.

The last time I posted about the Fiio E17K ALPEN 2 USB DAC and headphone amp it was going in triple figures in new condition, but as of this price check, it is down to $99 with free shipping by a number of retailers including various at Amazon (Pitbull, Gramophone, Expo, Beach, etc) and B&H Photo and Sonix Electronix among others.
Keep in mind this is a previous naming-convention model, you can see the new and old co-mingling at the Fiio website. TIP: their website is fiio.net, not fiio.com (which is giving a web server error).
This is an interesting trade-off if you are in the market for a DAP. The first generation of the Fiio X5 is now available manufacturer refurbished for $129 with free shipping at Adorama.com until 7/30/16 (or earlier if sold out).
The latest X5 model is the second generation which goes for $300 in new condition unless you find it on special. So you have to trade-off the advantages of the latest model, along with new-vs-refurbished, versus a much lower price. The first generation X5 has been around for a while, so plenty is written about it at various forums and websites. It can also serve as a USB DAC and it has two microSD slots (no on-board storage).
The standard new condition price at authorized dealers of the second generation Fiio X3 digital audio player is $200 but currently it’s on sale for $170 with free shipping in three different colors at B&H Photo.
Other Fiio DAPs are on sale as well, the newly released Fiio M3, in four different colors, for $46 with free shipping.

The X3 II has a number of physical advantages over the X1 if you like to mix and match different devices and headphones and I/O sources. Doing a little bit of a high and low, after an almost four figure item in the previous post, we now go to the other end of the price spectrum, the previous generation Fiio E6 portable little headphone amp has settled down to around $23.60 by various sellers with the orders fulfilled by Amazon. There is not a lot of room for big discounts on this one as it is. Its price drop is a result of the recently rebooted and renamed Fiio line-up with new entry-point Fiio A1 taking over the previous E6 price-point of $28.
The E6 averages 4 out of 5 based on 1300+ customer reviews and has over 250 questions answered by the internet hive wisdom over there. The one I bought three years ago (almost to the day) is still alive and kicking.
