Fiio has launched a new product and it’s already shipping! It is the new BTR1 bluetooth headphone DAC/amp, all in one portable device, with Bluetooth 4.2 and apt-X support. It has a fashion-y clip as well. I hope that if/when the clip breaks off, it breaks off clean like it did with the good old Sandisk Clip Plus mp3 players 🙂

This has its own mic/remote controls, so it may be one way to “bluetoothize” and “buttonize” your wired un-buttoned earphones/headphones. Note that this is a bluetooth receiver, not a bluetooth transmitter. This is not a DAP, it does not spit out music, it grabs music from your phone or other bluetooth-transmitter playback sources.

We have a mini trilogy of Fiio posts. We start with a new arrival at US shores, shipping from Amazon USA (fulfilled by Amazon), so Prime members can get it in two days or so, instead of a long slow shipping wait and customs kerfuffles.

“It” refers to, in this case, the new condition Fiio Q1 Mark II (second generation) a native DSD portable DAC/amp going for $100 with free shipping, sold by the Fiio store [recently launched on Amazon], with the orders fulfilled by Amazon, so Prime members get free 2-day shipping.

This second generation model supports up to DSD 256, and can handle up to 384kHz/32 bit PCM.

Fiio opens Amazon store, ships Fulfilled by Amazon

Fiio fans, fret no more! Sorry, I ran out of f-words 🙂 Okay, enough nonsense. Fiio joined the trend of companies opening up virtual Amazon storefronts, by opening up their own Amazon store, with the orders fulfilled by Amazon. This means they are shipped from an Amazon USA warehouse, with free 2-day shipping for Prime members, or the usual $25+ free super-saver-shipping for non-members.

As of the time of writing, the store has a subset of the Fiio line-up, currently having their odd-numbered F-series of IEMs, and the second generation Q1 DSD DAC/amp.

Fiio X1 DAP for $70 + S&H [MD]

Unlocked at the members-only Massdrop site is the new condition Fiio X1 (first generation) digital audio player going for $70 plus shipping. The offer runs for the next six days but may end earlier if the 64 available units are claimed (39 of them are claimed as of posting time).

These will ship in late June 2017, and all sales are final as usual. They will ship from Massdrop.

I am listening to music through this as I am writing this as a matter of fact 🙂 The promised review is still in the works, but I already posted a utilitarian text and pictures unboxing (no audio, no slideshows, no video, no annoyances).

If you don’t want to deal with Massdrop and forgo the option to return it if you don’t like it, you can get it for $79 Prime eligible in the gold color scheme.

Further complicating decisions is that Fiio released a 2nd Generation model which goes for $100 and adds Bluetooth. I’ve only used the first generation, so I can’t compare them.

Heads Up: Fiio E10K sale starts Friday 12pm ET

According to the teasers at the NewEgg Flash website, they are going to launch a 2-day deal on the Fiio E10K starting Friday at 12pm ET. There isn’t a page up for it yet (it will go live when it goes live) but you can search the website for headphones (or Fiio when it goes live) to find it. Or peruse the listings.

And a reminder, starting 12pm ET on Tuesday they will have a 15-hour deal on the 1More Triple Driver IEMs.

In both cases, I have no clue what the sale price will be, nor who the actual seller. In the 1More case, the chances are “1More USA” maybe the seller because there’s already an active 1More listing on a different headphone and “1More USA” is the seller of that.
