[DEAD] Used Sennheiser HD 518 for $36.50

It looks like I jinxed this one 🙁 As of 7/1/16 both the sale for the new condition and the AWD inventory at sub-$40 are dead and gone. But fear not, this headphone appears to be on a recurring discount schedule…

The open over-ear Sennheiser HD 518 continues to go for $45 in new condition, which is pushing down prices of the used models as well. Currently you can get it for $36.50 in “Used – Very Good” and $39~ in “Used – Like New” condition by Amazon Warehouse Deals

Sennheiser HD 650 and $150 Gift Card for $500

Assuming you’ll have no trouble spending the gift card on things you want/need, that makes the HD 650 a $350 purchase. Still not the best offer in history but if you need to get them ASAP…

Caution: the Sennheiser HD800 for $1000 are not authorized dealers [updated]

It’s one thing to buy a $10 headphone without worrying too much about authorized dealer status, but when you are going to put down two orders of magnitude that amount, authorized dealer status is definitely a much bigger factor. So if while price checking around you run into the Sennheiser HD800 going (in new condition) for $1000 at Amazon.com, note that the sellers having them for $1000 are not authorized or recognizable A/V sellers. Amazon’s own price is $1400 and if you price-check around that’s the price at other well-known sellers like B&H, Sweetwater, WWS, Crutchfield, etc.

PS: note also that Jet.com does NOT reveal who the seller of an item is, so you have no clue who you are buying it from, so you cannot know of warranty status ahead of purchase. Again, not a big deal with a $10 item, but for something like this, it is very important.

UPDATE 5/30/16
Thanks to Allan for pointing this in the comments!

You can also get it refurbished for $1000 from Crutchfield with a 2-year warranty and 60-day money-back guarantee.

If you are not a perfectionist, Crutchfield also has a scratch and dent refurbished for $850. This is marked as low stock.

Still Good: Sennheiser HD 600 with $150 Gift Card for $400

With Dads and Grads season, this is one option to consider, you could buy two gifts with one purchase 🙂 This offer continues, you get the new condition open-back over-ear Sennheiser HD 650 along with a $150 plastic Amazon Gift Card, bundled together for $400 at Amazon by Amazon actual. The gift card envelope has a Winter theme, but you can always put the gift card in a different box or envelope 🙂

PRO TIP: in very rare occasions when buying bundles with gift cards, the gift card may arrive before the actual product ships. In such cases, you may be able to apply the value of the gift card towards the purchase price of the item. Unless Amazon changed the accounting of it and this can no longer happen. Assume this is not so, and consider it a pleasant surprise in the very rare occasion this may happen.

At the moment, the bundle mentioned above is the best value among the handful of Sennheiser Gift Card bundles. Other models participating are the HD650 (unfavorable offer, $500 w/$100 GC), HD 380 and 280. The HD25* bundle looks like it has been dis-bundled (new verb?).

Sennheiser HD 7 DJ headphones for $110 [updated]

Sennheiser HD 650 and Fiio E18 Kunlun and BlueMic Ultimate USB Mic for $510

Last week’s Sennheiser HD650 triple bundle sold-out/disappeared quickly, but Adorama.com has another Sennheiser HD650 triple bundle. You pay $510 with free shipping, and for that you get three new condition products, the open-back over-ear Sennheiser HD 650 headphones, the Fiio E18 Kunlun Android Phone USB DAC & AMP, and the Blue Microphones Ultimate USB Mic (Blackout Edition). Offer is good until 5/29/16 or earlier if it sells out.

Sennheiser RS 165 Wireless (RF) for $155

A few months ago, Sennheiser remodeled their RF wireless non-bluetooth line-up, and among them, the RS 165 is one of the new entries, currently on sale for $155 with free shipping, with a limit of five per customer at Amazon by Amazon actual. This is the spiritual successor to the RS 160.

It is closed back over-ear, and comes with a transmitter-base and a headphone. It is powered by two AAA batteries, so if you have your own kit of chargers and rechargeables, you don’t have to worry about running out of juice in the middle of a game or movie. Just change the batteries (as long as you have pre-charged ones ready to go).

These average 4.2 out of 5 based on 110+ customer reviews, and they have about half of that number in answered questions, so if you are curious about them, your question may have already been resolved in a satisfactory fashion by the wisdom of the internet hive 🙂

[DEAD] Sennheiser HD 518 for $45 w/free S&H

This particular sale ended but the HD518 are on sale on a recurring basis. Infact $45 was a new low price from big name retailers as far as I can recall…

Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 (Bluetooth, ANC) for $342.50

Even though it is Sennheiser, this may get you kicked out of the local audiophile club, so use them discreetly because they are both Bluetooth and have Active Noise Cancellation. It is the Ivory color scheme of the closed-back over-ear Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless (Bluetooth) with ANC going for $342.50 with free shipping, with a limit of five units per customer at Amazon by Amazon actual. This looks like it might be a computer-generated price-match of a marketplace seller offering them, so it may not last long.

Sennheiser RS 175 RF Wireless for $239

The latest generation of the Sennheiser RF-wireless RS-series headphones (the ones whose model names ends with xx5) appears to not be using Kleer technology, mayhaps they developed something better in-house or they didn’t want to pay the licensing fees. Regardless, one of those new models, the RS 175 is on sale for $239 with free shipping with a limit of five per customer at Amazon by Amazon actual.

This is a closed back over ear model and comes with one pair of headphones and one transmitter/base which also serves as a headphone stand. You can pair a second headphone to the base (you have to buy the 2nd pair on your own). This averages 4.5 out of 5 with 300 customer reviews and has nearly 150 questions answered, so that’s a lot of info available about it.

Used Sennheiser HD700 for $358 [updated]

UPDATE (5/16/16): the “Used – Good” condition for $326 sold out, the lowest price now is “Used – Very Good” for $358~, with three separate listings at this price.

ORIGINAL: If you are interested in the Sennheiser HD700, a headphone caught in the crossfire of the HD800 and the HD600 and HD650 power duo, it is currently available in “Used – Good” condition for around $326 by Amazon Warehouse Deals actual. They also have a couple of listings in “Used – Very Good” condition for $22 more.

Used Sennheiser RS120 Wireless for $29

The RF wireless open-back Sennheiser RS 120 headphones are available in “Used – Very Good” condition for around $29 by Amazon Warehouse Deals actual, so you get free 2-day shipping if you are a Prime member.

There are two potential deal killers for these headphones according to the reviews, they lose their connection to the transmitter base if there is short silence (so you get annoying noise), and the mechanics of the AC input are not good.

Sennheiser HD8 DJ headphones and Pioneer Electronics DDJ-SX2 4-Channel Performance Serato DJ Controller for $999

A lot of things are marked “DJ” for marketing purposes, but this is a real DJ bundle at Adorama.com, it is the Sennheiser HD8 DJ headphones along with the Pioneer Electronics DDJ-SX2 4-Channel Performance Serato DJ Controller, together for $999 with free shipping. This bundle offer expires 5/17/16.

Sennheiser HD600 and Fiio E12 and Samson MIC for $400

Another triple bundle temptation! This time you have to part with $400 out of your wallet, and that will get you three items in new condition: the open-back over-ear classic Sennheiser HD600 headphones, the Fiio E12 Mont Blanc portable headphone amplifier, and the Samson MTR101 1″ Diaphragm Condenser Microphone (with Shockmount and Pop Filter) from authorized dealer Adorama.com. Offer ends by 5/16/16.

If you are interested in the HD600, but have no interest in the Fiio E12 or the Microphone (or don’t want to sell/trade/gift them), there’s another bundle option running, this one at amazon.com, for the same price of $400, but instead of the Fiio and Samson, you get a $150 plastic Amazon Gift Card, which is almost as good as cash.

Sennheiser HD 518 for $50 [limit 5]

Back on the discounting carousel again, it is the open-back over-ear Sennheiser HD 518, the entry-point in a three-headphone HD 5×8 series, on sale for $50 with free shipping, with a limit of five units per customer, at Amazon by Amazon actual where it averages 4.4 out of 5 based on 450 customer reviews.

Sennheiser HD 202 II for $24

Hot on the heels of a surprise review and *SPOILER ALERT* Wall of Fame achievement at Innerfidelity, the humble, unassuming and long tailed closed-back over-ear Sennheiser HD 202 II is on sale for $24 at Amazon by Amazon actual and other retailers (perhaps a price-match chain reaction). Limit up to thirty per customer, so the whole family can join this humble hype train 😉 The usual free shipping terms apply (Prime or $49+ or $25+ in books).

PS: as of the time of writing they have climbed to the #1 spot of the OVer-Ear Best Selling Charts at Amazon, where they average 4.3 out of 5 based on 3600+ customer reviews and have 200+ questions answered.

Used Sennheiser HD800 S flagship for $1275

Flagship Temptation of the Used Kind! The new condition recently released Sennheiser HD800 S go for $1700 at authorized dealers, but as of the time of writing, there is a listing of them in “Used – Good” condition (various cosmetic imperfections, missing cord, damaged original packaging) for $1275 with free shipping by Amazon Warehouse Deals.

NOTE: this is available as of 5/7/16 at 11pm Eastern Time. The blog-post here cannot be updated automatically if/when this sells out, so YMMV if reading at a later time. I will be checking on it later on, but I can’t be “baby sitting” it.

used_sennheiser_hd800S

Sennheiser HD 800 for $1000 [higher risk]

A trio of marketplace sellers are offering the new condition Sennheiser HD 800 former-flagship for $1000 to $1018 with free shipping, with the orders fulfilled by Amazon. This is a higher risk purchase (I don’t know if any of those three are authorized Sennheiser dealers), but at least the order is fulfilled by Amazon, so in case of problems, you deal with Amazon’s own customer support, not the sellers. Again, this is a higher risk purchase, so don’t buy if you don’t have tolerance for potential troubles.

Sennheiser HD650 and iFi Micro iCAN Special Edition headphone amp for $550

Bundle up time once again! The new condition open-back over-ear Sennheiser HD 650 headphones are bundled with the iFi Micro iCAN Special Edition headphone amp, together going for $550 with free shipping, for a limited time only at Adorama.com. Offer ends by 5/11/16.

If you don’t want or need the amp but you are still interested in the HD 6xx headphones, there are some bundles of them with Amazon plastic gift cards at Amazon. Currently the one that is the best deal of that lot is the HD600 with a $150 gift card for $400, making the headphones a nice $250 for this all-time classic model.

Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 (Ivory, iOS) for $218

The in-ears are not the only Momentums that are on sale. The Ivory color-scheme of the iOS version (that’s the MFi 3-button remote) of the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 closed-back over-ears is now on sale for $218 with free shipping at Amazon by Amazon actual with a limit of five per customer. The other options go for much more. They have detachable cables so you can use your own cable, you don’t have to be an iOS user to make the most of these.

PS: I don’t have this particular model, but in my experimentation of sticking different brand and OS cables on different headphones, most of them work. But to be on the safe side, check forums or ask in forums to make sure this would work

PS2: by saying “work”, I mean getting the full function of the in-line remote, play, pause, volume up/down, next/previous track, etc. Usually play and pause on iOS remotes works on many Android phones, it’s the rest of the functionality that varies. Again though, this is a very general blanket statement, YMMV depending on the individual combination you are using.
