Sennheiser Momentum M2 Over-Ears for $200

Earlier on Best Buy has the second generation Sennheiser Momentum (M2) Over-Ears for $215 bundled with a $100 Best Buy gift card. I don’t know if that was a price error or doorbuster/flash-sale, because it doesn’t appear to have lasted long. Currently the lowest price is for the new condition Apple Ivory model for $200. The Apple Black retains the $100 gift card but its price is $300.

The Momentum second generation came out around IFA 2015, so maybe this was an early sale to make room for the third-generation? [this is pure speculation!]

Sennheiser HD 598 CS down to $100

Another headphone returning to Black Friday pricing is the new condition closed-back over-er Sennheiser HD 598 CS going for $100 with free shipping at Amazon by Amazon actual with a limit of up to three per customer… Also pay attention to the used prices, as the $100 new-condition sale may squeeze them temporarily further down as well… They average 4.2 out of 5 based on 220+ customer reviews so far, and the recurring sales will likely lead to both more customer reviews and more used options since consumer-returns are inevitable (unless something is a very limited availability or “magical” product)…

[DEAD] Sunday: Sennheiser PX 100-II On-Ears for $37 w/FS

This daily deal expired… One of the Sunday daily deals at B&H Photo and Video is the new condition Sennheiser PX 100-II On-Ears going for $37 with free shipping and handling. The sale ends at 11:59pm ET on Sunday (or earlier if sold out).

The Sennheiser Outlet returns but at Sennheiser prices

The Sennheiser Outlet is back up and running again, featuring a variety of headphones from the HD 800 to the Momentums and Urbanites, but their prices are “Sennheiser” – their refurbished prices are often close to new condition prices at authorized dealers. A total of 21 headphones are participating.

Sennheiser RS 185 RF Wireless drop to $198

This drops further down, the new condition Sennheiser RS 185 RF Wireless are now down to $198 with free shipping by Amazon actual with a limit of up to three units per customer. This was going for $218 the last time we posted about it on 12/1/16. This uses RF wireless, not Bluetooth. The newer model numbers ending in 5 no longer use Kleer technology. They average 4.1 out of 5 based on 130+ customer reviews, and have over 100 questions peer-answered.

Used Sennheiser HD598 CS for $76+ [updated]

The lightning deal for $100 in new condition expired, but apparently Amazon Warehouse Deals has a boatload of used options with prices starting at $76~ for “Used – Good”, then on page #3 the “Used – Very Good” start at $81~, and on page #7 (!!!) “Used – Like New” go for $86~. A lot of the last couple of pages are “damaged original packaging” conditions.

They are back on the lightning deals again, they match their previous $100 price, it is the closed-back over-ear Sennheiser HD 598 CS at Amazon by Amazon actual. Offer ends by 7pm ET tonight. Limit one per customer… If you are a Prime member, they may be eligible for PrimeNow 2-hour free delivery (as long as they are in-stock at a nearby warehouse)…

Sennheiser RS120 RF Wireless system for $55 [limit 3]

If you are looking for an RF wireless headphone system, the new condition Sennheiser RS 120 is on sale again for $55 with free shipping at Amazon by Amazon actual with a limit of three per customer. You get the base/transmitter and one headset. The headset only works with the transmitter, you can’t use it a normal headphone. They come with rechargeable battery packs but you can also use your own AA and AAA batteries. A couple of potential issues with these is they are quick to drop the connection on silence, and the power cable connection is not user-friendly. This is good old RF wireless, not Kleer technology which is found on the more expensive model of this line.

Sennheiser CX215 earphones for $16 w/free S&H (after $5 MIR)

The day is over and this recurring daily deal expired… Buried towards the bottom of the Best Buy daily deals for Monday is the new condition open-back over-ear Sennheiser HD 558 going for $80 with free shipping or free store pickup.

PS: keep in mind Sennheiser unleashed a newer wave of HD 5XX models at IFA 2016.

Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Over-Ear Bluetooth with ANC for $347

Sennheiser insists on premium prices for the Bluetooth and ANC combo over-ears, namely the Momentum 2.0, which makes $347 with free shipping a sale, with a limit of five units per customer, at Amazon by Amazon actual.

Sennheiser RS 185 RF Wireless Headphone System for $218

Bluetooth has not killed the Radio Frequency star 🙂 The new condition Sennheiser RS 185 RF Wireless Headphone System (headphone + transmitter/stand) is on sale again, going for $218 with free shipping, at Amazon by Amazon actual with a limit of three units per customer.

This is part of the more recent RS xx5 line-up that is not using the Kleer technology but apparently Sennheiser’s own (or licensed without co-branding) technology. These average 4.2 out of 5 based on 125 customer reviews. This is an open-back system and works up to 100 meters away, the signal is almost as fast as Usain Bolt [not a scientifically accurate statement].

Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Over-Ears for $210

The closed-back over-ear Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 go for $210 the Apple Brown (are we talking recipes now?) color scheme at Amazon by Amazon actual with a limit of three units per customer. The Ivory goes for the same price, and the Black goes for a little bit more. On the Android/Galaxy front, the lowest price is $219.

PSA: Beware of the $1000 Sennheiser HD800 at Amazon

A number of sellers have the new condition Sennheiser HD800 for around $1000 at amazon.com, however, none of them are recognizable names or authorized dealers, so unless you are a very high risk shopper (or understand the risks and trade-offs), do not buy them! The recognizable and authorized dealers have them for $1400 (second page of listings).

Sennheiser HD 700 for $400 [MD]

If you can’t wait for future discounts, and if you don’t object to waiting until late December 2016 (or you assume you won’t be able to find a better deal by then), the open-back over-ear Sennheiser HD700 is now fully unlocked at members-only Massdrop for $400 with free shipping and a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Massdrop already launched an exclusive headphone with Sennheiser (the HD6xx), so one can assume it is safe to say that it’s safe to buy from them without worrying about warranty issues. The offer ends in about three days from Shop Small Saturday (today = 11/26/16).

The HD700 is between a rock and hard place strategically, squeezed now between the trio of HD6xx/HD600/HD650 and the duo of HD800/HD800S.

The black color scheme, in both iOS and Android goes for $113 to $115, Only the Denim color remains around $115. Note that various sellers are offering them, some are from Amazon actual, others from Prime-eligible marketplace sellers. Pay attention to the detailed listings to be certain you are buying from the certain you think you are buying from.

[DEAD] Sennheiser Urbanite On-Ears for $69

As of late Black Friday recheck, the lowest price is around $80… The Sandsnake (ha!) color scheme of the iOS version of the closed-back on-ear Sennheiser Urbanites is on sale for $68.50 at Amazon by Amazon actual with a limit of three per customer. The other colors and OS combinations go for more.

YMMV: Amazon Mobile App has Giveaways, May Give Coupons on Featured Items, But Kinda Buggy

The official Amazon app from Google Play (Android) has a new mobile giveaway promotion running between November 23 to December 6 in 2016. An Amazon notification informed me of this, and when I tapped on that, it took me to the promotion within the app that said this:

amazon_mobile_app_headphone_giveaway

A handful of products were offered, the first on the list was the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless ANC. The giveaway in itself is not of deal interest, but when you enter the giveaway (you have to tap the moving Amazon box, a nano game of sorts), you are told whether you won or not. If not, (this is the deal part), it gives you a limited time promo code to get a discount on the featured product. You can see that in the screenshot below:

amazon_mobile_app_headphone_giveaway_coupon

However, the whole thing was rather buggy, every other touch resulted in an error, and as you can see in the screenshot above, it didn’t spit out a promo code as it promised. I did this early in the day (10:40AM), on day #1 of the promotion, so maybe they are working out the kinks. I was running the latest version of the Amazon app.

So, YMMV…

New headphone release: Sennheiser HD200 Closed Over-Ear for $70

But wait, there’s more from Sennheiser! In addition to the newly renamed HD 2.xx and HD 4.xx and new HD5xx that were revealed at IFA 2016, Sennheiser also released yet another new headphone in the HD2xx series, it’s the closed over-ear “professional monitoring” HD200, with a starting price of $70, and already shipping from some of the sellers at amazon.com. It has no reviews there, it’s that new. Per the specs in the description, it has 32 ohm impedance.

[DEAD] Used Sennheiser HD 800 for $737 is back [updated]

This ended…

As of a 11/19/16 at 3:55pm ET recheck, this is back on… The Sennheiser HD 800 is not eligible for the 15% off AWD discount, but as of the time of writing, there’s a “Used – Good” condition option available for $737~ with free shipping by Amazon Warehouse Deals actual.

When looking at prices at Amazon, the ones offering it for $1000 in new condition are unknown sellers, and very likely not authorized Sennheiser dealers. So for $1000 headphone, make sure they are authorized AND reputable dealers before you consider buying. Both are important, especially for a big purchase. It’s one thing to risk on a $50 item, and quite another to take a $1000 risk.

As a 11/18/16 at 11:12pm ET recheck, the used $737 option is no longer available…

Used Sennheiser HD 700 for $274

The previously mentioned 15% off Amazon Warehouse Deals (AWD) promotion continues, and with that factored in, you can get the Sennheiser HD 700 for $274~ in “Used – Good” condition by AWD actual. This particular listing is described as having cosmetic imperfections, and having damaged original packaging, and missing “power cord” which I’m assuming means it’s missing a cable.

The decision as to whether to get this over the other Sennheiser (or other brand) options is complex, now that the HD 6xx entered the arena as a hard to get moving target at $200.

hd700_awd_checkout_discount

Used Sennheiser HD 461i for $38

The new condition closed-back Sennheier HD 461i (i = Apple devices remote) goes for $60+ in new condition, but if you are comfortable with used, it goes for around $38~ in “Used – Good” and $40~ in “Used – Very Good” and $43~ in “Used – Like New” by Amazon Warehouse Deals actual. Since there are multiple listings and this is a newer not-as-well-known model, the chances of further price drops is reasonable (other things equal as always).

Coming by Dec 22nd: Sennheiser HD 598 CS for $100

In the Amazon Black Friday press release, under the second block (“Electronics”), they reveal that sometime between now and December 22nd in 2016, they will have the new condition closed-back over-ear Sennheiser HD 598 CS for $100 instead of its current price of $200. They did not reveal when this will be offered, but they typically have two options, either as a “deal of the day” which means it can run for up 24 hours in a single calendar day, or as a lightning deal, most of which run for either 4-hours or 6-hours.

The HD 598 CS is a closed-back version of the HD 598, in a black color scheme, not the woodiness of the OG open HD 598.

PS: ironically perhaps, the Amazon VP quoted in the press release is named… Shure 🙂
