The open-back over-ear Philips Fidelio X2 are currently going for $219 with free shipping with a limit of five per customer at Amazon by Amazon actual. Check the various forums and reviews if you are worried about the potential “Gibson issues” after the Woox to Gibson transition.

Speaking of reviews, this is a 10-headphone comparison review including the X2 at Amazon, long enough that a commenter there complained it was “a book” and was promptly shut down by “book readers” with a “0 out of 68” favorability rating on that particular comment.

This headphone dropped another $10 since we posted about it in early July. It is the black/orange color-scheme of the Philips Fidelio M1/27 Mark II BO (= Black Orange) going for $80 with free shipping at Amazon by Amazon actual with a limit of three units per customer. Amazon’s own price is $90 for the Black color-scheme. These are for Prime members only.

However, a couple of marketplace sellers (Phat George and Auto Care Depot) offer these two colors for $80 each thru Amazon. Phat George is fulfilled by Amazon, while AutoCare ships directly. These are not well-known A/V dealers, so it is a higher risk purchase. These offers are available to everyone, only the ones sold by Amazon actual are limited to Prime members.

Here’s another Philips headphone sale, the black color scheme of the Philips M1 MKII BK/27 is on sale for $90 for Prime members only at Amazon.com while the black/red color goes for $100 and can be purchased by all, not just Prime members. Limit three of each per customer. The grills are decoration, these are closed back.

It’s a case of whack-a-mole for the open-back over-ear Philips SHP 9500 headphones as they rotate in maddening succession between the NewEgg website, the NewEgg eBay store and the NewEgg Flash website. Right now they are in-stock for $59 with free shipping at the NewEgg website where they average 5 Hypes out of 5 based on 50+ customer reviews 🙂

PS: there is now (6/8/16) a limit of 20 units per customer.

NewEgg’s attempt at a Groupon-like shopping service (for physical goods, not the local and travel stuff) is NewEggFLASH, and their flash site is having on sale for a limited time (ends next Thursday) the Philips SHP 9500 open-back over-ears for $60 with free shipping, with a limit of 30 pairs per customer. The white color scheme (white and sandy-brown really) of the Philips M1/27 Mark II is currently on sale in new condition for around $88, with a limit of three per customer, at Amazon by Amazon actual. The other two colors remain at $150+. So if you want the white, the new condition may be a good idea, but if you prefer the black-orange, you can get it used for half the price [see previous post].
