Philips SHP-9500S Open Over-Ears for $50

It’s back on sale again, the new condition Philips SHP-9500S (“S” is part of the model name) that appears to be a NewEgg exclusive model is going for $50 with free shipping by NewEgg’s eBay store with a limit of up to five units per customer.

I have this and I am planning a review (everything is moving in slow motion review-wise) but I posted a useful text and pictures unboxing. No video, no audio, just text and pictures, not even a wooden table 😉 For the price, it’s definitely a good value for an open-back over-ear with a detachable cable (the included cable is a basic one; and no mic/remote). It is very big-head friendly, I can just barely fit in the Monoprice 8323, but this one I’m only halfway up in the extension sliders.

As with any headphone that builds up hype train momentum, this is by no means perfect, so don’t expect unicorns and butterflies flying around your head when you listen to it 🙂

[DEAD] Refurbished Philips SHP9500 Open Over-Ears for $40

As of a 4/19/17 re-check, this is sold out as refurbished at this price.

The open-back over-ear Philips SHP9500 (the older model, without the “S” at the end of the name) is currently available in refurbished condition for $40 by a marketplace seller with the offer fulfilled by Amazon (so Prime eligible) through Amazon Warehouse Deals. There are no details on who did the refurbishing, so assume it is a seller refurbished. It is a smaller seller, under 500 ratings with 100%, so it’s a higher risk but the orders are fulfilled by Amazon, which is more helpful (than direct shipment from the marketplace seller) in case of problems.

PS: the latest model is the SHP9500S, with a final “S” in the name, an unboxing of which, in text and pictures only can be found here.

Philips SHE-8500 earphones for $9

Back to the single figures we go now, the new condition Philips SHE-8500 in the red or blue color-schemes are on sale for $9 at Amazon by Amazon actual. Philips Fidelio F1/27 On-Ears for $43 [updated]

A couple of “fulfilled by Amazon” marketplace sellers are offering the new condition Philips Fidelio F1/27 closed-back on-ears for $43 (was $39) with free shipping. You can find these in the detailed listings. “Fulfilled by Amazon” offers an extra layer of protection when dealing with non-famous retailers, because the order is shipped from Amazon’s facilities and you deal with Amazon’s customer service for returns and exchanges and such… Price updated here 3/18/17 AM…

Philips A1 PRO/27 DJ headphones for $55

It looks like a trio of marketplace sellers have price-matched each other as the new condition Philips A1 PRO/27 headphone, under the Armin Van Buuren umbrella, is on sale for $55~ with free shipping, with the orders fulfilled by Amazon. These are closed-back with 40mm drivers and 16 ohm impedance. They rotate and fold and have detachable earcups. From the looks of in the picture, the detachable cable may be proprietary design?

Still Good: Philips SHP9500S for $49 – Also: just posted detailed Unboxing Post of them

The open-back over-ear Philips SHP9500S continue to sell for $49 with free shipping at the NewEgg eBay store.

But that’s not all. My impulse buy arrived yesterday, and in a record-breaking turnaround (for me), I just published a detailed Text and Pictures unboxing. No animations, no video, no audio, just text and pictures. A “review diary” will begin during the weekend. Having a standard 3.5mm detachable cable definitely offers more flexibility (eg if you want to use your own mic/remote cable) ~ testing of those in the upcoming “review diary”.

If there’s anything you want me to check or test, please leave a comment in any of the SHP9500S posts or ask on Twitter.

Philips SHP-9500S for $57 (New) or $46 (Open Box)

The newer open-bac over-ear Philips SHP-9500S (the “S” is part of the model name, not plural – which is why it is bad idea to end product names with an “s/S”) is currently in-stock in both conditions at NewEgg, by Newegg actual, and with free shipping as follows:

+ new condition for $57
+ open box for $46
+ neither one of these prices is the lowest, so if you don’t want it right now, you can always wait

Philips SHP9500S open over-ears for $50 w/free S&H

The confusion is cleared up in this listing. NewEgg is offering the new condition (and newer model) Philips SHP9500S (the “S” is part of the model name and is the newer model; that’s why I hate it when companies use a plural “s” at the end of product names) for $50 with free shipping. These are open-back over-ears and they are sold and shipped by NewEgg actual. The sale ends on Cyber Monday. Limit 20 per customer. Screenshot proof of that below:

Back In-Stock: Philips X2/27 Fidelio for $248 [was $236]

The Philips X2 open-back over-ear were in the headphone world headlines for the right and the wrong reasons the last few months. They were also in and out of stock, but as 11/11/16 AM of the time of writing, they are back in stock for $248 [was $236] with free shipping, with a limit of five units per customer, at Amazon by Amazon actual.

UPDATE: the price of this bundle no longer tracks, it’s $30+ more expensive than buying the two items separately… NOTE also that starting November 12, Amazon will begin shipping a new Philips X2 bundle, the headphones together with the V-MODA BoomPro, together going for $265, which is the same as buying them separately. I don’t know if the price adjusts automatically based on the two components or it is set separately. At the moment it’s the same.

Black Friday 2016: Almost-Free Philips Earbuds with Plenti Rewards (you pay sales tax)

It’s not even November yet, but that doesn’t stop the Black Friday 2016 ads from leaking. And believe it or not, we have an earphone option. At Rite Aid brick and mortar stores, they will be offering Philips Earbuds for $6, but you will receive 600 Plenti points back on the purchase, making them essentially free. The sales tax however (if collected in your state) is not refundable, so it’s almost free in those cases. It looks like the offer is going to be limit two and good for Thursday through Saturday of that week.

NOTE: you need to have a Plenti rewards account. It is free to join. The 600 points have $6 buying power in future purchases at Rite Aid and other participating retailers (Macy’s, Mobil gas stations, etc).

NOTE #2: I have been using Plenti rewards, it’s a solid program, managed by American Express and with customer service. In other words, it is safe to do this offer without worrying about having to “fight them” to get your points. In fact, verification of eligibility shows up on the cash register receipt and you can spend the points the very next day after the purchase.

Philips SHP9500 (or SHP9500s) for $58

It’s back on sale again, but it’s a bit of a Schrodinger’s cat. The Philips SHP9500 open-back over-ear is on sale for $58 with free shipping at NewEgg by NewEgg actual until next Thursday 10/27/16 (or earlier if sold out)… However, some people online (and in the reviews over there) are mentioning that they are receiving the “SHP9500s” (the “s” is part of the model name, it is not plural), so keep that in mind, or check search engines and forums for more…

PS: that is why I keep insisting that a final “s” should never be the last character in a model name!
