The original post mentioned this: “Used – Good” condition for $1501~ with free shipping by Amazon Warehouse Deals actual. The listing describes this particular option as having minor cosmetic imperfections and damaged original packaging. This option is from Amazon’s own used sales (AWD). The other used option that goes for more ships from Japan.
Given that most people don’t buy a $1500 DAC/amp every day, if this is something you are interested in, you may also pay attention to the price over the next few days to see if it drops further down. There’s only one unit, so you are playing a game of “used chicken”, but if you don’t need it yesterday, you have the flexibility of waiting.
If you are chasing the Sony MDR-Z1R closed-back flagship, and want to get it in new condition at an authorized Sony USA dealer, there are three units available of it for $2300 by Audio Advice on eBay. Audio Advice is a B&M A/V retailer with two stores in North Carolina. Roy Williams NOT included 🙂

The remaining options cost more and ship from Japan… The Sony flagship MDR-Z1R is currently available in “Used – Like New” condition (never opened; shipping from California) for $1899 with free shipping by marketplace seller “Audio Fanatic” through Amazon Warehouse Deals. This ships directly from the seller, so it is not Prime eligible.

The Sennheiser HD800 S currently goes for $1662.04 at Amazon by Amazon actual (make sure Amazon is the actual seller, not a marketplace seller which sells it for $1 less).
