Bluetooth over/on-ears can be had for very good prices these days, the days of the “Bluetooth tax” are over. As of a 12/26/16 recheck, this is sold out… Our “Used Adventures” continue with some planar magnetics, the Hifiman HE-1000 are available in “Used – Demo condition” for $1679 plus shipping at Adorama.com which offers a 90-day Adorama warranty on the used products they sell. Shipping starts at $19 and varies by zipcode and delivery option.
This used option got sold-out… The Shure SRH 550 DJ headphones go for $100 at the few remaining retailers that still carry them, but you can cut the price in half by going used, you can get them in “Used – Very Good” condition for $46 plus shipping (starts at $7; varies by zipcode0 at Adorama.com.

Earlier on Best Buy has the second generation Sennheiser Momentum (M2) Over-Ears for $215 bundled with a $100 Best Buy gift card. I don’t know if that was a price error or doorbuster/flash-sale, because it doesn’t appear to have lasted long. Currently the lowest price is for the new condition Apple Ivory model for $200. The Apple Black retains the $100 gift card but its price is $300.
The Momentum second generation came out around IFA 2015, so maybe this was an early sale to make room for the third-generation? [this is pure speculation!]

Another headphone returning to Black Friday pricing is the new condition closed-back over-er Sennheiser HD 598 CS going for $100 with free shipping at Amazon by Amazon actual with a limit of up to three per customer… Also pay attention to the used prices, as the $100 new-condition sale may squeeze them temporarily further down as well… They average 4.2 out of 5 based on 220+ customer reviews so far, and the recurring sales will likely lead to both more customer reviews and more used options since consumer-returns are inevitable (unless something is a very limited availability or “magical” product)…
It didn’t take Secondipity long to come up with “certified refurbished” Sony MDR-1000X, they are currently going for $300 with free shipping, sold by Secondipity thru Amazon. They ship directly from Secondipity and they are not Prime-eligible.
“Certified Refurbished” as used by Amazon in their own such-branded listings means that the products get a minimum of a 90-day warranty. It doesn’t mean that they are (or are not) manufacturer refurbished. In this particular case, the product description states specifically they are manufacturer refurbished, but Amazon’s own “certified refurbished” tag means (in their own words): “This Certified Refurbished product is tested and certified by the manufacturer or by a third-party refurbisher… Only select sellers who maintain a high performance bar may offer Certified Refurbished products on Amazon…”.
This sale ended, but these have now established a sale price of $350 since it happened at least twice…
