On the other hand, there are multiple used listings for the Grado SR225e which goes for $200 in new condition, but $167~ in “Used – Good” condition. There’s a total of four used listings, so if they don’t move fast enough for Amazon’s price-bots’ liking, their prices may drop further.

Ends July 23: Daily FOCAL headphone giveways (Listen Over-Ears or Spark earphones)

UPDATE: Last Call! This daily FOCAL giveaway promotion ends on Sunday July 23!

Reputable online dealer OneCall, which is also the B&M A/V dealer Huppin’s in the city of Spokane (Washington) [yes, Gonzaga, Go ZAGS!] is an authorized FOCAL dealer and until July 23rd in 2017, they are running a daily giveaway of FOCAL headphones.

The prizes are either the FOCAL Listen over-ears (wired or bluetooth) and the Spark earphones (wired or bluetooth). One person will win a pair every day. It is not clear which one of the four models you’ll win on that particular date or whether you have a choice. You can register for this promotion every day.

The promotion is administered by Gleam, and requires a login using email or Facebook or Amazon or Instagram. The page shows the total number of entries, so you can look at those and decide whether you want to take a shot at them. You can enter every day until the promotion ends.

To make it easier to find this, I am adding a link to this in the Sidebar of the blog.

Used Bowers & Wilkins P9 for $573

If you are tempted by the Bowers & Wilkins P9 flagship headphones but don’t want to pay the new condition full price, Amazon Warehouse Deals (AWD) comes to the rescue, sold by AWD actual (not iffy sellers) starting at $573~ in “Used – Good” condition. There is one listing at this price, but there are four of them in “Used – Very Good” for $611~, so there is a possibility of price pressure building over time if they don’t move fast enough to Amazon’s price-bot algorithms’ satisfaction. There’s also a “Used – Like New” in damaged original packaging for $650~. The new condition price is $900 at most sellers, except for Audio Advice which has it for $800.

Thursday: Best Buy Sale for Rewards Members Only: Sony, Beats, Bose, Sennheiser HD 558

Best Buy has a rewards members only sale on Thursday until 11:59pm central time for Rewards members only. You have to login with your Best Buy account and be a “My Best Buy Members” rewards member. This is an Early Access sale that ends on Thursday at 11:59pm central time.

They are calling it a Black Friday in July, so I’m assuming whatever survives the rewards members will become available for the general population on Friday (but I could be wrong). Amazon may price-match some on Friday if/when they become available to the general population and not behind the members/log-in wall.

The headphones are as priced in the screenshot below. The Sennheiser Audiophile headphone is the good old HD 558 open-back over-ear. The Beats X drop to $100 when you add them to the shopping cart. The rest of them are as the screenshot shows. “View Image” with your browser or open it in a new window to see a larger version…

Open-box Philips SHP-9500S for $42 w/free S&H

If you don’t want to wait for future sale on the Philips SHP-9500S open-back over-ear headphones, they are back in-stock in open-box condition for $42 with free shipping by NewEgg actual. From what I recall, the open-box went as low as $35 or so, so if you don’t need to get this right away, you can wait for the next sale.

If you are curious about this headphone, we have a text and pictures unboxing post. I am planning to use this headphone as a guinea pig for my “long form review” format. In the future 🙂

In the meantime, METAL571 just posted a 12-minute video review of this headphone, which you can also find YouTube-embedded below.

Used Sony XB950 Bluetooth Closed Over-Ears for $58+

Sony’s latest Extra Bass bluetooth over-ears are the XB-950-B1 headphone (currently going for $150~), replacing the XB-950-BT. I am adding dashes in the model names to emphasizes the “B1” vs “BT” difference in the model name. If you prefer the previous model, or want to pay a much lower price, and you are comfortable with used headphones…

… then to the Amazon Warehouse Deals Bargain Bin sale we go where the XB-950-BT closed-back over-ear extra-bass headphones are available at Amazon Warehouse Deals (AWD), sold by AWD actual (not iffy marketplace sellers) for $58+ in the red color scheme, $61+ in the red color scheme, and $68+ in the black color scheme. The link in this paragraph shows you the lowest price per color…

… but if you want to see the detailed listings per color, click on the blue link over there that says “See all offers for this product” next to each color. This will take you to the detailed listings. For example, here are the blue detailed listings.

All the links above only show the used options offered by AWD actual. If you want to see all used options by all marketplace sellers (used Sony product listings often have iffy sellers and scammers, you have been warned!), start at this listing and filter by color and other options.

Used Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ears for $86+ [Android] or $99+ [iOS]

If you don’t want to wait for a future sale/clearance on the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ears [remember, Sennheiser has renamed this line going forward as the “HD1” line], some of those options are also participating in the Bargain Bin Clearance of Amazon Warehouse Deals.

Just like the previously mentioned B&W P3, there are multiple options in the listings, so let’s try to sort out this veiled spaghetti 🙂

As of the time of writing, the lowest used price is for the Silver color scheme with the Galaxy/Android remote buttons/cable, going for $86~ in “Used – Good” condition (cosmetic imperfections, damaged original packaging). It’s also available in “Used – Very Good” condition (cosmetic imperfection, damaged original packaging) for $92~. Both are sold by Amazon Warehouse Deals actual.

The lowest price option for the models with the iOS/Apple remote/cable is the black color scheme starting at $99~ in “Used – Like New” condition (damaged original packaging). There are four listings like this for the black iOS option.

Note that the headphones are the same. The difference between iOS and Android is the included detachable cable that has the compatible iOS or Android buttons. If you don’t care for full button compatibility or have your own compatible cables, then it doesn’t matter which OS version you get.

Used Bowers & Wilkins P3 On-Ears for $43+

The latest model in the Bowers & Wilkins P3 model is the second generation. If you are going to get the first generation, you might as well get it used. Which brings us to the red color scheme of this model available in “Used – Good” condition (cosmetic imperfections, repackaged) going for $42.54 with free shipping at Amazon Warehouse Deals. Meanwhile at the same place, you can get the black color scheme in “Used – Like New” condition (original packaging) for $54~.

But wait, there are more options to this. The same listing has both the new condition and the officially recertified models. And each one of these has used options. And the headphones are available in four different colors each. So, as a summary, this listing shows the lowest price per color/option for the new condition and the recertified. Prices start at $74 for the recertified and $100 for the new condition.

Because of the way the Amazon listing is structured, there is a “used recertified” option. This means someone purchased the recertified headphones at Amazon, and then returned them. Then Amazon listed the return as a used option under the recertified listing, thus a “used recertified”.

PS: side-effects of this listing include fried brains 🙂
