As of a 2/6/18 recheck, the $299 options is sold out and now the lowest used price is much higher…
Final Audio Design are better known for their in-ears BUT they also have over-headphones. Their Final Audio Design Sonorous IV go for $442+ in new condition (eg Amazon actual) and $500 elsewhere, but if you are comfortable with used headphones, you can shave 1/3rd of that price and get them for $299~ with free shipping in “Used – Very Good” condition (damaged original packaging) by Amazon Warehouse Deals actual. There’s only one used listing (this one) for them.
These are closed-back with a hybrid dynamic driver (50mm) and balanced-armature drivers. They have just three customer reviews of the glowing type, but they are all detailed audiophile-type reviews, including one by Bob the Despot who says he designs expensive speaker systems for a living. Trigger warning: there is talk of burn in 🙂
PS: there are a couple of low-rated goofball marketplace sellers offering them for less than Amazon in new condition. These are very high risk listings. Avoid them unless you are working for an Attorney General investing things of this nature 🙂
