Skullcandy is offering its VIP fans a three month free trial of the new YouTube Music Premium service. After the first three months, your account will be charged unless you manually cancel it. This offer is only available to new users of the service, ones who did not previously used a trial or had been a member. If so, you may be offered a 1-month free trial or no free trial at all.
They also offer a Student plan for $5/month and a Family pack for $15/month (up to six Google accounts on it)..
Google managed to confuse things with their services as their YouTube RED subscription has been split into two, the YouTube Music Premium that is music and music-videos only, and the YouTube Premium which is both video (TV, movies, etc) and the aforementioned YT Music service. The catch now is that the former costs $10/month, while the latter costs $12/month.
Meanwhile the good old “Google Play All Access” music subscription also continues for $10/month, although some of the early adopters of the service are in at the inaugural $8/month rate. This includes access to the ad-free YouTube Music app. I’m not sure what happens with YouTube RED access now that RED is no more. I had cancelled my service shortly before this whole mess of “Premiums” began. I’m on Spotify. If nothing else, supporting the more independent companies instead of the giant planet-size ecosystems of Google and Apple and Amazon and Microsoft 🙂
PS: I’m still waiting for the Zune to be reborn and the Zune Music Pass to return ^_^
