This looks like another price match of sorts, because a trio of sellers at Amazon.com, including Amazon actual, Beach and Focus Cameras are offering the new condition Beyerdynamic DT990 PREMIUM 250 ohm for $169 with free shipping. Amazon’s own limit is five per customer. If anyone needs more, you can get additional units from the other sellers. As usual, the safest bet is buying from Amazon actual since it’s their home store and you have the most flexibility/leeway in case of problems or issues or returns or exchanges.

The price of the black color scheme of the Beyerdynamic Custom Street On-Ears jumped to $80, but the white color scheme is dropping in price, you can now get it for around $57 at Amazon by Amazon actual with a limit of three per customer. It has a detachable cable with a 1-button remote.

Speaking of BeyerD, their Custom Street On-Ears have dropped to $64~ in the white color. The black color scheme jumped to $80. These are not on a lightning deal, so the price continues until it changes (in other words I have no clue when it will change).

NOTE: these are on-ears, the “Street” is the On-Ear model. The non-Street Customs are over-ears.

I bought these as an impulse + curiosity buy. The Unboxing post I promised for last weekend was delayed, but delay no more, I just posted a Useful Unboxing (text and pictures only), no animations, no audio/video annoyances. A total of 22 pictures were posted (out of 160+ taken).

For some strange reason I decided not to listen to them until I posted the Unboxing post, so how they sound would not “color” the unboxing post. Not sure where this crazy idea came from 🙂

UPDATE:: the “Review Diary” for these is now LIVE will begin this weekend [hooray! Deadline met!]… A “review diary” is when the review develops over time, and I post findings as I use them. Instead of waiting until a review is “completed”. Not that anything is ever completed with audio since there are so many different ways to combine and interconnect things And a more practical reason, if I start a “review diary” I am more likely to review something versus not writing anything at all 🙂

This daily deal expired… The second option in the three Musician’s Friend Stupid Deals of the Day (they have three now instead of one per day) is the new condition closed-back over-ear Beyerdynamic Custom PRO headphones offered for $140 with free shipping. The price drops in the shopping cart. The product page displays a $220 price, but once you add to cart, there is a $80 off discount while this offer is running. The offer ends at 8am ET on Sunday or earlier if they run out of them.

NewEgg Flash is their attempt at the social shopping thing (eg Groupon, LivingSocial, Woot, etc), the offers there typically last a week (or so), but many of them return every few weeks, others do not.

To cut a long story short, marketplace seller “ClassyU” is offering the new condition closed-back over-ear Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO (250 ohm) for $110 with free shipping with a limit of 30 units per customer. The listing there says they come with a 2-year Beyerdynamic warranty. I am not familiar with the seller “ClassyU”, so I don’t know if they are an authorized dealer.

It’s also kinda sneaky of NewEggFlash not to prominently list the seller’s name. The only reason you discover this on the product page is when you page down towards the warranty. Because this and Jet’s “magical deliveries” it is a rather disturbing trend when you are buying more expensive items where authorized dealer status is important for warranty purposes.

However, people who pay more attention to details, will also notice that this is mentioned in the Shopping Cart, again this is good, but it should be prominent on the main product page, the mythical average consumer shouldn’t have to put on their Sherlock Holmes hats just to buy something…

Which brings us to the beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Limited Edition, in new condition, currently on sale for $130 with free shipping at Amazon by Amazon actual. These are all black.

PS: if you are not familiar with the Beyerdynamic line-up, here’s a quick way to remember which models are open/closed: the higher the number, the more open they are. The DT 770s are closed, the 880s are semi-open, and the 990 are open.

On the other hand, if you prefer the previous generation model, in new condition but discontinued, the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro over-ears with their “openeness slider” are on sale for $159 with free shipping, with a limit of five units per customer at Amazon by Amazon actual. They average 4.2 out of 5 based on 180+ customer reviews.

The Beyerdynamic Custom Street On-Ears started dropping in price during the Prime Day Madness, but it looks like they are continuing to drip-down in price, now they have dropped below the Price Day, going for the very specific price of $95.89 in new condition, in the black color scheme, at Amazon by Amazon actual. There is no quantity limitations.

Given the above, if you are curious about these, you may want to keep an eye on them for even further future discounting. Granted, stock price analysis does not work as well on headphone prices, but the trend is clearly in the way of price drops on these ones.

Custom is in the sound-signature altering slider that can be found physically on the headphones, and also in the handful of colorful and interchangeable earcup plates. They fold into a custom case and get gently caressed by a two year warranty 😉

One of the Prime Day offers has already been “defeated”, by a single dollar, but this is also open to everyone, not just Prime members. If you take stock analysis on headphone pricing, one could monitor the “falling knife” until it finds a new “bottom”, but having said that, it’s not a stock 🙂
