MEE audio Air-Fi Venture AF52 for $34.99 (limit 3)
If you need a pair of bluetooth headphones and don’t mind waiting for a few days to receive them, it looks like Amazon is beating the current price of Massdrop for the MEE audio Air-Fi Venture AF52 offered them for $34.99, with a limit of three per customer. That extra penny is important if you are not a Prime member, because free shipping is with a $35+ order (add a cable or other trinket to get to $35+, add-on items are eligible as well for this purpose).
The headphones average 4 out of 5 based on over 330 customer reviews, and have over 80 questions answered, so there are plenty of knowns about them. They also play music via 3.5mm, so you are not stuck musicless if they run out of battery (built-in, needed for Bluetooth).
PS: “MEE audio” is the new name for “ME Electronics”. I’m not sure the new name is an improvement. It’s like “Logitech” becoming “Logi”. At least it keeps the marketing people busy 🙂
DAP specials at Fry’s: Pono for $230, Fiio X1 at $89
If you missed the Black Friday digital audio player specials, you have another shot at them now. You have to be willing to subscribe to the Fry’s daily email newsletters which gets you unique (per person) coupon codes that you can apply to get their latest Weekly Specials. Among the items offered for this week is Neil Young’s Pono player for $230, and the Fiio X1 for $89. There’s a limit of one per customer for each DAP. This is good for in-store purchases and also online orders with free shipping.
PS: I picked up an X1 during the holiday sales and will be posting about it in more detail once I get organized. If you have any specific things you want me to check or test, please leave a comment in any of the posts. It reminds me of a more mature and serious version of the good old Sandisk Fuze with that click-wheel. Except I was using the Fuze with the Rhapsody Windows Desktop client software (to transfer subscription tracks), and the frustration with that horrible piece of Rhapsody s***ware rubbed off on my memory of the poor old Fuze 🙂
Monday: Beats Solo 2 On-Ears for $130
The Beats Solo 2 on-ear headphones are back to Holiday shopping season prices on Monday February 8 2016 at Fry’s Electronics. You can get them at this price at their store or website if you use the unique coupon codes they send to their email subscribers. It’s free to subscribe (and unsubscribe later) if you like. Multiple colors are available. This is advertised in their Monday ad.
PS: I don’t know if Amazon is planning to price-match it. Their price as of the time of writing is $150.
PS2: also part of the Monday offers is a 3ft 3.5mm plain audio cable for $0.99. There’s a limit of five of these at this price, and it’s good online or in-store as well. They have free shipping with orders of $34 or higher; yes, just below Amazon super-saver, just to send a message 🙂
