Both color schemes of each of the new H8i and H9i are in-stock and ready to ship at their starting price of $399 and $499 respectively at Amazon by Amazon actual. This is the B&O Play H8i listing and this is the B&O Play H9i listing. Each listing has both colors on it.

These were announced at CES 2018 and they are charged by USB-C, not microUSB, so a plus if prefer the new way of things. The H9i is over-ears, while the H8i is on-ears. Both have ANC and bluetooth, and “Transparency mode” which lets you listen in to the “real world”.

In-Stock Now: Sennheiser CX 6.00 BT In-Ears for $100

I just updated the Headphone Tracker which tries to keep track of some of the most interesting releases of new headphones revealed at CES 2018 and the biggest update this time is that the new Sennheiser CX 6.00 Bluetooth In-Ears are now in-stock and shipping for their starting price of $100 by a couple of recognizable audio sellers (Electronics EXPO and Audio46) through Amazon. They ship directly from those two sellers, and they are not Prime eligible.

Now shipping: JLab Epic Sports bluetooth earphones

Another one of the new CES 2018 headphones is now in-stock and ready to ship! In either the black or the blue color schemes, you can get the new condition JLab Epic Sports exercise bluetooth (4.2, apt-X) earphones for $100 with free shipping, sold by the JLab Audio Amazon store, with the orders fulfilled by Amazon, so Prime members get them in two days or so.

As usual with new releases, these are for the early adopters, the “brand fans” and the reviewers. If you don’t need/want them right away, it’s smarter to wait for a few weeks to read more reviews and see whether there’s any discounting.

You can get a summary of the Stock Situation of some of the new CES 2018 headphones at our just updated Headphone Tracker …tracking post 🙂

In-Stock Now: Moshi Avanti AIR Bluetooth On-Ears

I am also updating the Headphone Tracker with some of the more interesting or serious NEW headphones from CES 2018 and during this update, one of these new models is now in-stock and shipping, of early adopter and reviewer interest perhaps, it is the new condition Moshi Avanti AIR bluetooth on-ears going for $300 with free shipping, sold by the official Moshi Amazon store, with the orders fulfilled by Amazon

This Moshi video shows it from various angles…

This brings Audeze closer in price to the Monoprice “homage” that is the M300 which goes for $150 in new condition, or for $100 as open box.

In-Stock Now: Sennheiser HDV 820 DAC/amp for $2400

CES 2018 is here and we have began rounding up the new headphones at CES 2018 in our annual customary mega-post. It is short now but if you check the previous CES years, you will notice that they balloon to the point of unreadability 🙂

The closed-back HD 820 headphones are the star of Sennheiser’s announcement and the subjects of a long wait until the early summer for release. Coming along with them, but already in-stock and shipping at various retailers is the HDV 820 DAC and headphone amplifier. Both have a price of $2400. The HDV 820 Headphone Amplifier is already in-stock and shipping by various at Amazon and B&H Photo and the official Sennheiser USA store and Hifi Heaven and World Wide Stereo, the last two being their eBay stores.

Now shipping: Tascam TH-03 for $25 w/free S&H

The Tascam TH-02 found themselves in some budget headphone recommendation lists and as it happens most of the time, a new model has arrived, it is the Tascam TH-03 (first time I’ve heard about it) and it is now in-stock and shipping for $25 with free shipping by Focus Camera directly or fulfilled by Amazon (Prime eligible), sold by aSavings, which is an online persona for Focus Camera.

It is marketed as a studio headphone, and indeed there are no consumer-y frills and accessories. You just get the 1/4″ adaptor. No mic/remote. Screenshot from Amazon listing below:

Monoprice MP80 BA/Dynamic In-Ears (with three tuning nozzles) for $59 w/FS

The Monoprice party continues, this time with a brand new in-ear release, so new it has zero customer reviews at the moment at their website!

It is the new condition MP80 BA + Dynamic Driver IEMs are on sale for $70 with free standard US shipping. But wait, there’s more! You can use coupon code ENJOY and get 15% off, making this a $59.50 with free shipping. The coupon expires Christmas night (12/25/17 PM).

That’s the thing with Monoprice coupons, some of the time (but not most of the time) they also work on sale items, so you have to check/test every time if you want to get the lowest price available at the moment of purchase 🙂

It comes with three tuning nozzles that alter the sound signature. The three options per the product description follow the patterns of bright, sub-bassy and neutral-ish (“deliver a more accurate frequency response”). They have close-up pictures of the tuning nozzles [screenshot below]:

Accessories are a leather storage pouch, a cord clip, and silicone eartips.

This could make for an interesting and more complicated review for the boldly-going early-adopters as you would essentially be reviewing three different earphones in terms of sound signature.

And that’s before you go wild and mix different tuning nozzles on each ear! I said “boldly going” 🙂

The red and blue are in “temporarily out of stock” status, while the white color scheme is not currently available for ordering.

This has been added to our recently re-launched New Headphones Tracker.

Apple is, as expected, “recapturing” the magical $350 price point that is fought in the trenches of shopping centers online and at brick and mortar. Or for almost half the price you can get the new condition second generation.

The claim to fame of the third generation model is that it is using Apple’s W1 chip which layers on top of class 1 bluetooth, offering additional Apple-y benefits to the headphone. The W1 chip is already available in other Beats headphones (Solo 3, AirPods).

Now shipping: Bose SoundSport Free Truly Wireless for $249

The three dials on the dark side of the moon are Gain, Bass and Treble and that whole section is removable with two simple screws:

New and Shipping: portable Fiio BTR1 Bluetooth Headphone DAC/Amp for $100

Fiio has launched a new product and it’s already shipping! It is the new BTR1 bluetooth headphone DAC/amp, all in one portable device, with Bluetooth 4.2 and apt-X support. It has a fashion-y clip as well. I hope that if/when the clip breaks off, it breaks off clean like it did with the good old Sandisk Clip Plus mp3 players 🙂

This has its own mic/remote controls, so it may be one way to “bluetoothize” and “buttonize” your wired un-buttoned earphones/headphones. Note that this is a bluetooth receiver, not a bluetooth transmitter. This is not a DAP, it does not spit out music, it grabs music from your phone or other bluetooth-transmitter playback sources.

As of the time of writing, it is in-stock and shipping for $100 by the Tinbel Store, with the orders fulfilled by Amazon, so Prime members get free 2-day shipping.

Lots of details at the Fiio product page. They also made a 60-second hype video about it, but they mis-typed the named in as “BRT1” in the video [2 to 6 seconds in the video] 🙂

In-Stock and with a small discount: Bose Quiet Comfort QC35 II for $339 in black or silver

More new headphones are now shipping, we are after all in that stage of the season, after we got a boatload of new products during the IFA 2017 announcement season. Speaking of announcements, Google will offciially reveal their Pixels 2 on Wednesday 10/4/17. Hanging in the balance is the fate of the headphone jack for Pixel phones. But let’s not panic too quickly. Apple and Google and HTC have been trying to kill microSD memory cards for many years and they have failed 🙂

Anyway, back to the topic at hand! The brand new Bose Quiet Comfort QC 35 II (second generation) closed-back over-ear headphones with bluetooth and active noise cancelling are in-stock and ready to ship for a small discount, going for $339~ with free shipping by authorized dealer Huppin’s with the orders fulfilled by Amazon, so Prime members get it for free in about two days. Both colors are on sale.

If they run out or if you have gift cards or promotional rewards, they are also in-stock at their regular price of $349 at Adorama in the black color scheme or the silver color scheme which is also in-stock at B&H Photo.

PS: the “truly wireless” Bose SoundSport Free Wireless earphones were announced at the same time as the QC 35 II but it looks like it’s gonna be a few more weeks before they come out, Amazon’s estimate is late November 2017. But keep in mind estimates can change in either direction as time goes by.

Now shipping: Shure SE 112 Bluetooth IEMs for $99 [SE-215-BT1 Coming Next Week]

Among the new IFA 2017 era headphones was Shure’s embrace of bluetooth for their SE-series of wired models. The bluetooth version of the SE-215 is not that far away, according to Amazon’s estimates the SE-215-BT1 will be in-stock around October 3 for $150 each. They are available in four different colors (clear, blue, white, black). It looks like they are also available at Adorama.

The Shure RMCE-BT1 bluetooth cable for the SE-series of wired earphones (using MMCX connectors) is already shipping for $99 from various marketplace sellers thru Amazon, while Amazon’s own estimate is a nebulous “1 to 4 weeks”.

Now shipping from USA: Fiio Q1 Mark II DSD DAC/amp for $100

We have a mini trilogy of Fiio posts. We start with a new arrival at US shores, shipping from Amazon USA (fulfilled by Amazon), so Prime members can get it in two days or so, instead of a long slow shipping wait and customs kerfuffles.

“It” refers to, in this case, the new condition Fiio Q1 Mark II (second generation) a native DSD portable DAC/amp going for $100 with free shipping, sold by the Fiio store [recently launched on Amazon], with the orders fulfilled by Amazon, so Prime members get free 2-day shipping.

This second generation model supports up to DSD 256, and can handle up to 384kHz/32 bit PCM.

The first generation model continues, it is currently going for $70. It does not support DSD and can go up to 96kHz/24-Bit. The first generation averages 4.2 out of 5 based on 110 customer reviews, and has nearly 90 questions answered.

UPDATE #2: the black F9 SE (with L-shaped plug) is also in-stock for $90!

So you have a choice. Picture #2 in the product gallery of each one of the above options shows you the shape of the plug (straight vs L-shaped).

These support both apt-X HD and Sony’s own LDAC technology. Sony worked with The Google to cook some LDAC into the Oreo recipe, but unlike iOS and Windows, the latest Android OS takes years before it propagates to the majority of users. SAD!

In-Stock Alert: Monoprice M565 Planars for $200

One of the headphones that came with the IFA 2017 wave [sorry, I fell behind, I still have to add a dozen more new headphones to the list] is the new Monoprice M565 planar-magnetics, an open-back set, unlike the open/closed style of the M560.

ORIGINAL POST
Teaware is not the only thing that loves ceramics. RHA does too! Mayhaps the Scottish connection of tea and earphones? 🙂 That’s a question for the RHA engineers, in the meantime, their new CL1 ceramic earphones are about to start shipping!

The current in-stock estimate at amazon.com is September 10 (2017), with a starting price of $250, sold and shipped by Amazon actual.

UPDATE: Jack pointed out in the comments that there’s a big difference in price. This was announced at IFA 2016, a whole year ago for $450, which is the price at the RHA website as well.

Amazon just recently added it to their website for $250. Price error? Newer model? Price drop? Amazon volume buy? Production and material costs went down?

I will post another update if I find the answer or find someone who knows the answer…

Focal is now riding high(er) in the headphone world thanks to the hype train generated by the Elear and Utopia duo. Their entry into headphones had been a rather timid approach at the $300-ish price range, but their second wave went high (Utopia, Elear) and low (affordable models) in terms of pricing.
