With the new Fall 2017 (and even more awkwardly named) WH-1000X-M2, Sony has more price flexibility on the previous generation MDR-1000X ANC + bluetooth over-ears, they can ask their authorized dealers to sing a discounting song. And they have, the MDR-1000X, in either color, is now on sale for $248 at Amazon by Amazon actual (limit three per color per customer) and such.
UPDATE: I forgot to mention that this also available in manufacturer refurbished condition for $180 with free shipping by Secondipity on eBay in either color scheme with a limit of up to five per customer. Over 1270 pairs got sold through this particular listing according to the eBay stats on the listing page over there.
