UPDATE at 6:22pm ET: the party’s over for the MAGNI 2, it is sold out and cannot be ordered for $79 fulfilled by Amazon. I do not know if more inventory will appear in the future. You can check the MAGNI 2 UBER headphone amp listing to see if anything changed. I will be monitoring the situation as well 🙂
Previous updates after the break…
As of 6:23pm ET, the MAGNI 2 for $59 is SOLD OUT, and now the MAGNI 2 UBER headphone amp has almost run out. The in-stock estimate has moved ahead in time (September 23) and the shopping cart only allows you to buy ONE. Initially when I posted this, you could buy up to 30 per customer. So LAST CALL if interested…
The announcement of the new Magni 3 headphone amp at $99, caused the new condition Magni 2 to drop to $59, but that’s not all. There’s another Magni 2 headphone amp out there…
… and it got discounted too! The new condition Magni 2 UBER is down to $79 with free shipping, sold by Schiit Audio with the orders fulfilled by Amazon, so you get free 2-day shipping if you are a Prime member.
Now that we know the reason why they are on sale, we don’t really need a screenshot, but why not, it’s free to take screenshots 🙂
STRATEGY SESSION
As with most new-generation vs previous-generation product launches, it creates a decision point if you don’t have a strong preference to either always go for the latest model, or always go for the previous discounted model.
The Magni 3 has pre-amp outs, there is regular and Uber like with the Magni 2. So one possible decision point is this, if you want the pre-amp out, then perhaps the latest model is worth the extra $20. If you don’t want the pre-amp out, then $40 savings for the Magni 2 may be a reasonable compromise.
Needless to say, everyone has slightly different needs, preferences, priorities and budgets, so there’s no one size fits all type of an answer.
