Repurposing Office Supplies As Earphone Cases Part II: $1 Office Depot/Max Clearance Sale

We previously mentioned the thrifty-ghetto way of using back-to-school doorbusters as temporary or permanent cases for earphones. We now have another set of clearance office supplies for repurposing for this task.

The Office Depot and Office Max stores are having a Back to School Clearance sale, and among the items that are put on clearnace ($1 each) are a handful of their boxed supplies. All of which could make good repurposed cases for earphones, either as they are or if you add padding inside.

I just bought them today at the store, so I will have more in the next few days (I will try to fit different earphones inside and see what works).

UPDATE: they are also available through the Office Depot website, the online prices range from $0.75 to $1.50, versus $1 for each at B&M. YMMV on B&M pricing depending on region/etc.

But if you don’t want to wait for me to do that, and you want to check out your local ODP and OMX stores, here are the six different designs they have available:

  1. Lego-style containers – they do stack and latch on each other
  2. test tube
  3. two-pack of round boxes (sold together)
  4. donut – could be very helpful with cables that are tangle-prone?
  5. round ball
  6. puzzle piece (attaches to other puzzle pieces)

As you can tell by the ruler, none of these are big enough for on-ear headphones.

If you don’t need the actual supplies inside, you can put them in bags or other containers and donate them to a local school or non-profit. Everything helps when it comes to their supplies budgets!

More on these, with close-ups of individual pieces with earpones inside, in the next few days 🙂
