[DEAD] Archeer 4-channel headphone amplifier (1/4″ jacks) for $10

As of 6/23/17 re-check, this is sold out and cannot be ordered at the moment…

This design of a multi-headphone amplifier appears to be sold under different brands and variations. One such is currently on sale, it is the white color schemed ARCHEER Multi-channel Headphone Audio Signal Switcher going for $10 in new condition, sold by Archeer with the orders fulfilled by Amazon, so they are Prime eligible. There is either a limit of four per customer, or they have four units left.

It has no customer reviews. Note that this has 1/4″ inputs and does not include 1/4″ adapters. I haven’t seen or touched the Archeer but I have the Pyle Pro PHA40. Judging by the pictures, there are physical differences in them, the positions of the AC input and the 1/4″ audio input are different, and it looks like they are using different power adapters. Neither has a power button, so the only way to turn it off is to unplug it or remove the AC adapter.

Here’s an annotated screenshot showing how the inputs/outputs match up from front to back:

One use for this is as a headphone splitter: since this is powered, and has four individual volume controls, you won’t have volume inconsistencies you may get if you use an unpowered headphone splitter like the “Starfish” 5-in-1s.

Another use for them is when you want to compare multiple headphones without plugging and unplugging things non-stop. One however must needs use caution when jumping to conclusions, this can be part of your evaluation, not the whole thing, as many factors can come into play affecting the sound. One simple use is to hear which headphone is louder at the same volume. Any conclusions you make using this on audio quality you must needs also verify while listening to the headphones on their own or otherwise.
