The pictures make them look on-ear but the first customer reviews says they are much larger than they look in the picture, so research it further if interested in these headphones which average 4 out of 5 based on 13 customer reviews. They are not compatible with the S-Pen even though Samsung owns Harman which owns AKG 😉

You can’t go wrong with this headphone ~ if nothing else so you can have it as a benchmark for discussion/comparison.

PS: if you need extra earpads, a 6-pack of Koss earpads goes for $5. That’s three pairs and they are compatible with some other headphones including the other underground hit, the KSC-75 clip-ons [unboxing of an older model]…

20% off 160+ USED Headphones at AWD [Prime Day]

Another Prime Day temptation from Amazon, this time of the USED kind (no, not the band). Amazon Warehouse Deals has plenty of USED products offering a 20% off discount when you add them to the shopping cart. They must be sold by “Amazon Warehouse Deals” (Amazon’s used products persona) and be eligible for the promotion. Eligible items mention this in their individual used listings. [screenshot at the bottom of the post]…

Of headphone interest, there are over 160 products in the Headphones category eligible for this promotion. There might be some more that are categorized elsewhere (gaming, phone accessories, etc).

Here is an example of two eligible listings and one ineligible. They are taken from the used listings of the Bowers & Wilkins PX ANC/Bluetooth headphones:

Shure Prime Deals: SE-215-BT for $104, SE-425-BT for $210, SE-535-BT for $350, SE-846-BT for $699

Are you …sure you want to buy some Shure in-ears? If you are sure about Shure, AND you are a Prime member (or don’t object to starting a 30-day free trial, then you can head on over to the Prime Day PRO Audio sale where you will find the following “bluetooth” Shure in-ears on sale in various colors:

+ SE-215 for $104
+ SE-425 for $210
+ SE-535 for $350
+ SE-846 for $699

The cables are detachable. The SE-215 comes with a bluetooth cable only, but the higher models including both the bluetooth cable and a 3.5mm cable which can be switched physically to work with iOS or Android button presses.

Check reviews because some of them don’t have as high of a review score as their older pre-bluetooth models had. (I have no idea what the issues are, I’m merely looking at the numbers).

A number of other accessories are also included with the higher models…

Monoprice M1060 Open Over-Ear Planars for $220 after coupon

It’s a sale and a coupon promotion! For a limited time, coupon code 17M1060 drops the price of the new condition open-back over-ear Monolith M1060 planar magnetic headphones from $243 to $220 at the Monoprice website. Sennheiser Momentum Free SE bluetooth earphones for $150 [Prime Deal]

More Prime action, this time from Sennheiser, they are offering their new condition Sennheiser Momentum Free special edition necklace-style bluetooth earphones [gosh, the names are getting longer and longer] for $150 with free shipping if you are a Prime member… IF you are not a Prime member, you have to add it to the shopping cart in order to get a “reveal” of the Prime Deal price…

For all the action, check the Prime Day Gold Box, and given the volume of deals for these two days, the time you spend digging around, the more interesting deals you may find…

Skullcandy Hesh 3 Bluetooth Over-Ears for $60 [Prime Deal]

Skullcandy has lost some of its earlier days average-consumer appeal, so mayhaps that could get them “rediscovered” by the contrarians 😉 Anyway, one of the Prime Day deals is the crimson (no king) color scheme of the new condition HESH 3 bluetooth over-ears going for $60 for Prime members…

NOTE that you have to be a Prime member and logged on to your Amazon Prime account in order to see and make the most of these offers…

In other action (I’m randomly bunching offers to reduce the number of individual blog posts in a day), another Prime Deal is the new condition CORSAIR ST100 RGB Premium Headset Stand with 7.1 Surround Sound – 3.5mm and 2xUSB 3.0 for $48. A headset is NOT included…

Prime Only: 1More Triple Driver IEMs for $60

Another Prime Day offer for members, you can get the new condition 1More Triple Driver IEMs for $60 with free shipping if you are a member. This is the silver color scheme… The bluetooth version is not a Prime deal but it goes for $83~ on its own…

Or if you prefer something bluetooth but more budget and are the curious want-to-try-new-brands, TCL is offering their new condition SOCL100BT bluetooth earphones (necklace style) for $20 in four different color schemes for PRIME members…

While we are at it, here are a couple of other audio-related Prime Day offerings:

EU Prime Day Headphone Deals aplenty: AKG, AT, Shure SE-215, B&O, Bose, Sony, Jaybird, JBL, Etc

There are LOTS of headphone deals in the very busy Amazon Germany Prime Day sales. Almost all of these deals require someone to be a Prime member. IF you are not and you see things you want to buy, you can simply start a FREE 30-day Prime trial and get in on the deals right away…

You can find all the offers mentioned below by traversing the long list of deals linked in the first paragraph above. It will take forever to link them individually below (they may expire by the time I get to doing it)…

This is a LOOONG post, read all about it after the break….

Bose Soundlink Over-Ear Bluetooths for $159

More Prime Day action, for Prime members only, Amazon actual is offering the closed-back Bose Soundlink Over-Ear Bluetooths for $159 in two different color schemes. They average 4.3 out of 5 based on 2000+ customer reviews and have over 1000 answered questions.

BUT if you are not a Prime member, fear not! Adorama thru Amazon is offering each color for $159 each as well or you can buy them from the Adorama website directly… But that’s not all, the same with 5% promotional rewards can be found at B&H Photo

So this is a clever way to sell, non-Prime members can buy some of the Prime deals _away_ from Amazon ^_^

Speaking of Bose, Amazon is also offering the new condition Bose SoundSport Free Truly Wireless in the limited edition ultraviolet color scheme for $139. Only this color scheme is on sale. The others remain at $139…

Sony WH-CH700N ANC/Bluetooth Over-Ears for $90 to $100

UPDATE: this headphone is now part of the Prime Deals for $90 in either color but non-Prime members can still get it for $100…

If you are looking for a usable ANC and bluetooth over-ears combo from a name-brand but don’t want to pay the $300 to get the much talked about models, there’s a deal for you too. For just $100 you can get the new condition Sony WH-CH700N ANC/Bluetooth Over-Ears. This is sold and shipped by Amazon itself. You can buy up to three pairs at the sale price. Only the black color scheme is on sale.

NOTE: this is not a Prime Day deal ~ all Amazon customers can buy it!

And as fate would have it, we have a text and pictures unboxing of this headphone right here. I did not finish the review for it, but for $100, this is not a bad deal.

Monday: JBL Reflect Mini 2 bluetooth earphones for $30 AC

NewEgg.com is also having its very own Pseudo-Prime sale and of those offers that have been unlocked as of the time of writing they are offering the new condition JBL Reflect Mini 2 necklace-style bluetooth earphones for $30 with free shipping AFTER you enter promo code EMCFTCUA36 in the shopping cart over there. But in order to do that, you must give them your email address (or be already logged-in with a NewEgg account). Free to join, it’s just the peculiarities of their marketing and/or because of MAP pricing?

Prime Day deal: Microsoft Surface headphone for $190

Everybody it seems is trying their hands at headphones these days, so it was only a matter of time before we got a “Surface” headphone. This typically went for $250 on sale, but if you had been waiting for a sale, you can thank Prime Day 2019, because the new condition model is currently on sale for $190 for Prime members only…

This is trying to compete with the hard-fought $300-ish crew of name-brand closed-back over-ear headphones with ANC and bluetooth. In this case, the bluetooth is version 4.2. This averages 3.8 out of 5 based on nearly 100 customer reviews and it has over 50 answered-questions by viewers like you…

Prime Day deal: Beats Solo3 On-Ears for $140

The Prime Deals for 2019 are under-way and one item that may sellout early due to popularity is the new condition Beats Solo3 on-ears (closed-back, wireless (bluetooth)) going for $140 with free shipping in the black color scheme. This is the Matte black color scheme.

All together these average 4.1 out of 5 based on 2850 customer reviews and have 1000+ answered questions and have triggered 1000+ audiophiles on head-fi and reddit ^_^

For almost all Prime Day 2019 deals, you have to be a number. BUT if you are not and you want to join the spending-spree party, all you have to do is start a free 30-day TRIAL of Prime and you are in the party.

This is just the first of many posts and round-ups for Prime Day 2019. Amazon Germany also has a crazy number of headphones in their offers. I will posting as I can in the next few hours. Stay tuned!

Monday: Jabra Elite 65t truly wireless for $120

Best Buy has a “truly wireless” exercise-oriented [the “Active” in the model name is one of the clues] earphone on sale as part of their Monday 7/15/19 daily deals, it is the new condition Jabra Elite 65t going for $120 with free shipping and/or free store pickup.

Monoprice 3.5mm M/M Mobile Audio cables start at $1~ [and lots more]

We have the opposite of “magic cables” here 🙂 The Monoprice 3.5mm male-to-male audio cables designed for mobile (the plugs are better designed to deal with headphone jacks and smartphone cases) are on sale, with prices starting at $1.06 for the 3-footer and slightly increasing as cable length increases.

Only the black color scheme is on sale. They average 4 out of 5 based on nearly 700 customer reviews at the Monoprice website…

Speaking of which, they are currently offering the new condition metal headphone stand in the black or silver color schemes for $17 with free US shipping. These are “compressed omega” shaped, the “omega shape” made popular mayhaps by the wooden headphone stands. The metallic Monoprice headphone stand averages 4.7 out of 5 based on 22 customer reviews over there.

If you are planning to place a Monoprice order anyway (eg one that already qualifies for free shipping), you could add as an appetizer this $3 wired earphones with mic/remote (one button type). They average 4.2 out of 5 based on 120+ customer reviews. I had these a while back, and the price is right for them, especially for utilitarian use. I suspect no one will buy these to listen to operas or audiophile jazz 🙂

With Amazon’s own Prime Day fast approaching, Monoprice too decided to have their own Prime Deals which include some headphones when you page-down towards the bottom of that page. One of which is the new condition Lightweight On-Ears (closed-back) going for $12 but shipping is not free, so you’d have to add them to an order that qualifies for free S&H on its own if you don’t want to pay shipping no matter what.

From the looks of it and the sound signature (although I don’t have both of them right now to compare them side by side) these look like they are closely related to the AmazonBasics On-Ears. I have the Monoprice version and will be posting an unboxing [spoiler alert: very spartan package] and opinions in the future. I’m wearing them right now, listening to Depeche Mode’s “Delta Machine” which tests a variety of things [in addition to me liking this album] and indeed, it is moderately bassy just as I remember the AmazonBasics headphones.

From what I recall, these were also sold under “Able Planet” and another brand I saw I think on BuyDig (or somewhere like that). And mayhaps even more chifi brands…

OOPS, this post has gone out of control in size. It’s like a Twitter feed but writteen in a blog-post 🙂

Sunday: Sony Audio sale at Woot [updated]

Original post after the break…

It’s something you don’t see everyday! The official Schiit Audio Amazon store is offering a $20 off clip-on coupon on the new condition Schiit Fulla 2 DAC/amp that drops its price from $119 to $99. You have to be logged on to an Amazon account in order to clip the coupon. The order is fulfilled by Amazon, so you get Prime shipping anyway.

Here’s a screenshot of what to look for at the Amazon product page. Note that the coupon only works if the seller of record is Schiit Audio (Schiit’s official Amazon store)…

Saturday: Otium ANC/BT Over-Ears for $40

OF the Saturday deals of the day at Woot, Woot Elecronics is offering the new condition Otium closed-back over-ear bluetooth with ANC headphones for $40 with free shipping for Prime members or $6 flat shipping for non-members. It comes with a 6-month warranty from Otium.

PS1: fear not Stormlight Archive fans, this is Otium, not Odium 🙂

PS2: with Prime Day(s) just around the corner (July 15-16) it may not be a bad idea to strategically start a free 30-day trial of Prime…

Meanwhile Amazon GErmany is having a Logitech sale for SAturday featuring two Astro gaming headsets and a utilitarian Logitech branded PC headset..

Friday (EU): Paww Silksound headband headphones for 42 euro

Good for Friday 7/12/19 in the German time zone is an Amazon.de Gold Box deal of the day on the new condition Paww Silksound headband headphones for 42 euro with free shipping within Germany and/or associated regions. These are available in four color schemes and they average 3.4 out of 5 based on 15 customer reviews.

These headphones are truly a headband headphone in that there are no conventional earcups. In the place of the traditional earcups the headband thickness a bit more and there are the speaker protrusions. They also fold and fit in the included “half moon” case. Also included is a 3.5mm audio cable and microUSB to USB charging cable…

As far as I can recall, I haven’t used any headband headphones. The closest I got was the smaller form factor B&O Play Form 2i and the good old Panasonic HT-21 lightweight on-ears [and assorted models of that style]…

Thursday: Anker SoundBuds Slim+ bluetooth earphones for $22

Thursday is right here waiting for you with an Anker themed sale as one of the Woot daily deals, and of headphone interest, they have the new condition Anker SoundBuds Slim+ bluetooth necklace-style earphones offered for $22 with free shipping for Prime members or $6 flat for all calendar-day purchases…

They come with a 1-year Anker warranty and you can buy up to ten pairs per shopping cart at the sale price. They promise IPX-5, Bluetooth 4.1, and up to seven hours playtime. Picture #7 in the gallery over there shows the complete package, multiple different eartips, a general-use zippered earphone case, a charging cable, and a couple of trinkets (carabiner, shirt clip).

Of DAP, DAC and Amp interest, they have a 20,000 PowerBank, and a USB-C charger, along with a couple of bluetooth speakers, and other assorted accessories…

NOTE also that this week is Woot’s birthday week, they turn fifteen, and they have various sale-a-brations throughout the week. But I have no advance notice of what will be offered when and at which price, so YMMV…

Wednesday: Powerbeats 3 (Neighborhood) for $75

We learn new things every day. For example, Apple-Beats have a “Neighborhood Collection” as part of their Powerbeats3 bluetooth earphone line-up and the Asphalt Grey and the Turf Green color schemes are on sale for $75 with free US shipping as a Wednesday 7/10/19 deal of the day at B&H Photo… They do have the Apple W1 chip, of great interest if you have i-Devices with W1 support…

Now Shipping: Massdrop Objective 2 Headphone Amp (Desktop Edition) for $95 w/FUSS [MD]

Hide your e-wallets, although, considering the price-ranges of audiophile gear, this won’t do as much damage as some other CLEAR options that can put the FOCAL point of money drain on your ELEG(I)ANT wallet, probably purchased from Massdrop too 😉

With that obligatory throw-all-the-tomatatoes-at-me joke out of the way, we have good news if you are a fan of the Objective 2 headphone amp. The desktop edition of the Massdrop edition is now shipping (actually shipping) at the Massdrop website for $95 with free US shipping.

The shipping estimate as of the time of writing is July 10 in 2019, a miracle by Massdrop standards 🙂 This has become an “In-Stock Drop” that’s why it ships so fast ~ one business day after the close of the calendar day of your purchase. Your card will be charged two hours after ordering, so you have that regretsy window 🙂

During the checkout process you have two decisions to make. One is utilitarian, 110V or 220V adapter to be included. The other is more philosophical: standard gain or medium gain. Or you can get both and resolve the never-ending internal and external debates 😉

In addition to the free US shipping, they have two expedited shipping options, a +$5 and a +$15 which promises a 2-business day arrival. I wonder if it’s only a matter of time before Massdrop offers some kind of a Prime-like membership plan that includes faster shipping? [this is only a crackpot theory, I have no inside or outside knowledge]

PS: I’m planning to set out some time so I can update the two Massdrop “Tracking” perma-posts I used to keep updated 🙂 Stay tuned on that ~ no promises 🙂

Used (Open Box) Focal Spark in-ears for $25

This is not one of the FOCAL headphones that are generating a lot of forum/audiophile buzz, but they are FOCAL branded nonetheless, the Spark wired in-ears, they are currently available in “Used – Like New” Open-Box condition for $25 in the black and silver color schemes by authorized dealer Gramophone (a B&M A/V dealer in Maryland [Gary Williams NOT included]) through Amazon Warehouse Deals… They are fulfilled by Amazon, so they are Prime eligible)…

Used Hifiman RE-400a In-Ears for $22

If you want to try out the Hifiman RE-400 series of earphones but don’t want to pay new condition money or risk too much because of Hifiman’s quality control issues, then one option is the Way of the Used because Amazon Warehouse Deals (AWD) has the RE-400a in-ears (the “a” for Android buttons) going for $22~ in “Used – Very Good” condition. These are sold by AWD actual, not iffy used marketplace sellers…

EU: AKG K612 Open Over-Ears for 99 euro

The benefits of being physically closer to Austria mayhaps translate to lower prices as well. The new condition open-back over-ear AKG K612 headphones are currently on sale for 99 euro with free shipping within Germany by Amazon Germany, where however they are not greeted like the Vienna Orchestra ~ they are averaging 3.2 out of 5 based on 39 customer reviews and they have 11 answered questions.

So be sure to read up on them before purchase if you are not already familiar with them and the alternatives out there…
