Shure update. Their entry into the sub-$50 consumer on-ear market has a noticeable discount. You can now get the closed-back on-ear SRH-145 (no mic/remote) for $29 (limit 27, perhaps that’s how many they have left, the limit is usually 30). If you prefer the Apple 3-button mic/remote, you can get the SRH-145m+ (with mic/remote) for $39 with a limit 30.
These are sold by Amazon actual, so the usual free shipping terms apply. Combined, over there, they average 4.1 out of 5 based on 60+ customer reviews.
Along with the above closed-back models, Shure also release a semi-open version, the SRH-144 (no mic/remote) which is also on sale for $29 (limit 27). It averages 4.2 out of 5 based on 8 customer reviews.

Now, these are called “in-ears” but they are kinda in-betweens. They don’t form a seal like true in-ears, and they are not sitting outside your earhole like earbuds. They have little mini-speaker-like protrusions that go in your ear but they don’t form a seal. Perhaps of interest if you have trouble with in-ears and air seals and such.
Moshi Moonrock In-Ears for $27
