There are multiple used listings, with the prices ranging from $16.50 to $19.25 depending on condition. With multiple listings, the chances of prices dropping further down are higher (unless of course they are getting bought up at a satisfactory rate (to the computer that decides the prices)).

These are perhaps best suited for utilitarian listening, not for dedicated music appreciation type of listing. They average 3.5 out of 5 based on nearly 1700 customer reviews.

Audio Technica makes many headphones and they are not shy about releasing new ones every other day. Among them the ATH-RE-700 closed-back headphones. In the brown color scheme, they go for $95 at Amazon by Amazon actual.

If you prefer the black color scheme, it goes for $98 by Sonix Electronix and by Sonix at Amazon where they have one long customer review that compares to the ATH-M40x (and one short one).

Massdrop: Sony NWZ-A17, GeekOut 450, iFi Nano

A trio of new offers are up at Massdrop. As of the time of writing of this post, none of them are fully unlocked (which is their way of saying, the lowest price possible under this promotion). The offers below expire in 6-7 days from today (with today being the blog-posting day).

We start on the DAP front, with the Sony NWZ-A17 Walkman that can go as low as $260 shipped. It is expected to ship in early April 2015, so keep that in mind if you need to get to it quickly. It goes for $300 at authorized Sony dealers (eg Sony’s eBay store or Amazon).
